My request was for the quantities model year 2005 Coupe and Spyder 2005 -

Mr. Bromley,

The figures provided relate to the production of Model Year 2005 vehicles only, which is the period September 2004 to August 2005 approximately.

Many thanks. Is this just in the year of 2005, or for the 2005 model until cease of production of the facelift 2005 model?

Regards,

Stephen Bromley

Mr. Bromley,

Further to your recent enquiry I am now able to confirm the following volumes of Maserati Coupe and Spyder GT and Cambio Corsa imported into the GB market for model year 2005 vehicles;

89 Coupe Cambio Corsa

34 Coupe GT

20 Spyder Cambio Corsa

4 Spyder GT

Unfortunately, it is not an exact science to identify vehicles by model year so I have had to count them based upon their production month.

I hope that the information is useful to you?

Regards,

Peter Denton.

Hello Stephen,
You seem to be very knowledgeable on this subject.
I have a 2004, 4200 Manual Spyder.
It has the glass rear screen and the V8 badges but not the deeper grille.
Does this make it a face lift model?
I have a recollection that it had been described as such by one of its previous sellers.

Hi Russell,
The answer in short is no. The previous seller might have loosely referred to the upgrade model, which the 2004 is above the 2003, which was more applicable to the CC gearbox which had upgrades, and not the GT being manual. For further info on the differences between a facelift, 2003/2004 models and GS, click in the following first link, and scroll up and down for further info, and look at the second link which shows a facelift spyder currently available, which I think is the only one currently available in the world! However look at the price! Your car is also in limited numbers, as only about 1/3 of cars produced were manual GT's, and spyder/coupe about 1/4. The exact numbers are not available yet, we (me and a few other members) are trying to get these figures together. Enjoy being a member of exclusivity!

Just to add that there were 65 MY 2006 Coupe Cambio Corsa and GT models imported by Maserati and no spyders.

It's possible that some of these 06 cars were registered at the tail of 2005 because MY 06 production started in September that year.  All have been registered.

Peter Denton was again kind enough to trawl the archives for these figures.  Please note that he doesn't have dedicated resources to collate and provide such data; there's no official service to respond to such requests.  I'm grateful he personally made time to answer our queries.

I endorse Richard's thanks to Peter Denton. Did he give the CC/GT number breakdown within the total of 65? That still leaves the total of facelift spyders imported into the UK as:

Spyder GT     4
Spyder CC    20 (including at least 2 limited editions) as follows:

Hello Stephen,
Thanks for your reply. I would have been in touch sooner but I've just got back from a sodden bike trip to North Wales.
I'm not sure which is more of a handful, ZX12R or Spyder on the A470 in the pxxxing rain.
The Spyder on the link you provided is very tasty and, if it's so rare, not a bad price I suppose.
On the other hand the, car I have is terrific - better still after some time at Grimaldi to sort brakes and geometry. - and for the pleasure it brings pretty inexpensive.
I hope to keep it for a long time and in top condition.
Thanks again for your help.
Best Regards, Russell
