Hi

I have a 4200CC Spyder, we are going to Santa Pod for an event and have been told they are having a run what you brung session as well.

I have 3 questions.

1. If I decide to have a go what is the smoothest way to get the CC off the line quickly and smoothly and without too much damage?

2. How many runs will the gearbox/clutch take without too much wear?

3. Would it be worth altering the tyre pressure?

I doubt I will have a go, but it might be a treat for the spectators to see something with style on the strip.

Don't do it...you will eat many a %%% off the clutch...its a GT not a dragster.

Seroiusly you do risk damage to both clutch and gear box as well as drive shafts/bearings and mounts.

Wise Words Peter. A minute looking good and showing off can never be worth a week in the garage and a 5K bill, unless of course I  have been missing out all these years. Who knows !!!

If I did it, I'd only take off as fast as I would at the traffic light Grand Prix - basically, wait for the clutch to fully engage before clogging it.

I must say though, I doubt I'd do it.

I have chickened out and am thinking of entering the 999 challenge instead.

You have to buy and build a car for under a grand.

I will save the Spider for a blast across Europe instead I think.

Agree that the car is a GT not a dragster but isn't the official 0-60 less than 4 seconds. It would be a life experience to try the 1/4 mile but sadly costly as well.

I think less than 5 is more accurate :)

I've seen it quoted in the 4.7 - 4.9 range which is still pretty quick... don't plan on timing it myself tho.
