I collected the car on Saturday after its 31k service by MP Supercars in Edinburgh.

I found Martin and Phil very friendly and knowledgable and they kept me updated throughout the process, clearing any extra work with me.

The service revealed a few issues but nothing unusual for a Coupe, being

- a torn steering rack gaiter
- worn bush in a rear wish bone
- a couple of leaking seals above the spark plugs in the n/s bank of cylinders that allowed oil to build up above the plug (all were replaced)

In terms of the end to end experience it worked well with MP in that they were able to:
- get the wishbone re-bushed rather than replaced at a significant saving over new
- get tyres fitted that I provided (front inner edges had gone bald after 12k)
- get the (4 wheel) wheel alignment done (toe settings were out a tad)
- get the car MOT'd
- organise minor paint work (see my recent thread "rust")

This made life very easy for me, especially as I am based on the west coast and ideally I want to get all such things sorted once a year.

Also they adopt a pragmatic approach to the 31k service, which means not a thoughtless tick box replacement of all fluids etc but rather replacing what needs it and then investing time working on known areas, brakes, handbrake etc etc. This suits me and if you want all things changed you can always direct accordingly.

When I asked that they check and clear any leaves from below the pollen filter they advised this as a known issue they always check and they even have a special attachment for getting the leaves out; again demonstrating practical knowledge often found wanting at main dealers.

Underfloor inspection and touch in of any tiny chips was a given

The final bill expanded from a base level 31k service cost, as you would expect noting issues above and part/labour impact but even then, all in, it is probably on a par with a base camp main dealer 31k service, with no issues - so not cheap (never will be!) but significantly better value than a main dealer.

Pleasing too to get the feedback from MP that my Coupe is a good clean example.

Not the easiest to get to for me but I dropped the car off and took the good wife to Edinburgh for the weekend and then travelled across by train when ready for collection (MP will collect you from Prestonpans station)

So in summary, I found MP very helpful and knowledgable and pricing is materially less than main dealer. They have great contacts for attending to all needs. They get my vote for Scottish servicing.

Cheers

Glad to hear everything went well with MP, will drop in when I need anything specific. It was good to see you a couple of weeks back - bring on the good weather so the Scottish collective can meet up for a drive.
