I heard someone refurbishes the shocks for this car. I have now got all 4 WORKING top ends for the electronic suspension but was told 2 of the struts may be seized and one has its gear broken.

I had ordered one new strut from EUROSPARES a while ago but it seems to be a straight one with no provision for being adjustable.

Needed the car on the road so just went ahead and instaleld it.

Wonder if someone has any contacts for used ones or a co that repairs them.

Did  a perfect refurb for my adjustable shock ones!
Don't know if he can refurb the adjusters itselve though.
In the USA someone does.
Will try to look it up.

Try here : http://www.hillengineering.co.uk/catalog/suspension-items-actuator-gears-c-47_53.html?osCsid=a064935e266601f918f4d6ca6bd451c8
for a replacement gear if you have the shock off the car already, is the shaft moving freely even though the gear has broken?

does anyone have access to the relevant page on a workshop manual that may show some sort of a bench test for the actuators using a multimeter or 12v Dc power on a bench. Tks

I have checked the workshop manual and can find no such data.  My understanding is that the SD2 tester fully diagnoses actuator issues, which has failed and what the failure condition is.  Physical inspection will tell you if the plastic gearing has failed.  This is a common failure which can be repaired as per boomerang's post.  I have had a failure that was due to an electical fault in the actuator  - not sure if this can be fixed as mine was replaced under warranty.

Just had my front ones refurbed by Bilstein UK.
(Actually expecting them back today)

Full refurb £80+vat each
takes about 2 weeks door to door.

Spoke to them yesterday and they confirmed they had done a full refurb and the adjustment all worked fine.

Will post more when I get them back.

Cheers

Gordon

this is excelent. I am sure I can package mine off to them for a refurbishment. Just need to find the one rear adjustable first as one of my rear shocks is a fixed one.

They actually came today

Wouldn't recognise them given how grotty they looked when sent.

New splines / cogs or whatever on the top (and they turn soooo easily)

The scratches on the bottom were there when sent

Can't wait to get them on the car and get rid of the dreaded ERROR
Imagine it - no warning lights at all!

And all for £80 each + vat (including the return postage)

struggling to get the pictures in the post - think I uploaded them ok, but can't see them :(

Can't remember the chap's name I'm afraid, but on the occasions I rang I always got someone helpful.

To correct my previous post the cost was +carriage not including carriage as I stated.
So with VAT the total cost was £202 and change.

They are being fitted today so I'll let you know how they feel.

Cheers

Gordon
