John, I removed my dashtop recently as there was a slight rattle I wanted to eliminate, in a fit of OCD! If you do need to remove the dashtop (I presume this will then give you access to continue removing lower bits as you need to), then this is the process: 1) Remove the horizontal trim roof panels above the driver and passenger doors - slip your fingers between the roof lining and the trim panel and they just unclip if you pull them gently. 2) The windscreen surround/A-pillar panels also unclip and then pull upwards from the dashboard once released from the bodywork. If yours is a later model, there will also be a screw at the top of the trim panel to remove first (this will be visible once you've removed the roof panels. 3) Once the A-pillar panels have been removed you'll see a securing screw at each end of the dashtop. Awkward to get to - ideally accessed with a right-angled screwdriver or a ratchet. 4) Remove the centre vents - held by two screws visible when fitted, and then just comes out. 5) Under the centre vents you'll find two more dashtop screws - remove these. From memory, that's it; the dashtop should then pull towards you and upwards - take care when doing this! There is also the sensor in the centre of the dash that you'll need to unplug before you remove the dashtop. Hope this helps - easier to do than to explain in writing!
