Afternoon Gents,

I really like the rear end of the 3200, but think the side profile and front end of the 4200 GS are superb. Is it possible to put the front end and side skirts of the GS on a 3200? If Yes, does it simply consist of a new bumper, supporting brackets, new grill and side skirts? Or is there more to it?

Also, does anyone have 4200 GS wheels on their 3200? If Yes, pictures are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Although sharing an outward family resemblence, there were so many internal and chassis improvements between the original 3200 Coupe and the GranSport that this would require major surgery. The likely cost of this surgery would outstretch the cost of buying a decent GS in the first place. If you like the boomerang rear lights [as so many did] then perhaps consider investing in a good GS then having the rear cosmetic changes done afterwards. you might just possibly pick up a bargain that's had a rear-end shunt but is otherwise in good condition with documented service history, etc?

I recall seeing elsewhere on this Forum, as article about a company in the Netherlands [?] that did such a modification, with excellent results.

Happy searching

Thanks for the advice there Kookaburra,
I really see the appeal of a manual, twin turbo Maserati with Boomerang lights. For me it would just have to be a 3200 in yellow.

Does anyone have any pics of GS wheels on a 3200?

You may be able to graft the front portion of the GS bumper, but it would take a lot of fetteling

I just really love the larger grill on the GS - IMO it would finish the 3200 off perfectly.

Hey LittleBro,

Yes I did run a search, spent some time looking through 15 pages or so with no luck.
Please post a link if you do come across it.

Thanks

I haven't seen any pictures of a 3200 with GS wheels, however I remember seeing one in a youtube video recently. I searched my history a bit and voila:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ne-dc-cNbw&feature=related

It's not very good quality but it's the best I can do to help.

Oh and hello everyone! I've been lurking this site for a while. Lots of great info!

Hi Alex,

Thats actually a GranSport MC Victory which the owner added the 32 lights.

OP, I'll see if I can find the pics when I have more net time.

Rear silencers are not my first choice though.

This was the one i was looking for, a "real" 3200, "converted" to GS.
Fenders, bumper, hood, skirts are all from the GS, they made custom airoutlets in the hood and if you look closely, you can see the original 3200GT seats are still mounted.
I suspect this has been done while repairing a front damage.

Wow, those 3200s look great!
Bring on the purchase of one... I actually really like the ball polished wheels on the 3200 in the video.

Is there any upgrade for a standard 3200 grill? Or shall I stick with the plans for a GS front end?

I love the look of that 3200 with the GS facelift.  GS wheels and interior and that would be perfect!

I'm far from a purist but I couldn't bring myself to mess with the elegant lines of the 3200. If you like the GS styling, then buy a GS. It would probably be cheaper in the long run. I do like the GS rims on the 3200 though... A set in grigio mercury would be the bees knees on my car but I'm leery of it adversely affecting the ride comfort. Neil

rotorheadcase,

I normally hate cars that opt for design over ride (hence why I opted for 19'' wheels on the Range Rover), but considering my 3200 would get so little use, I don't think it would bother me too much.

I saw a standard 4200 on Sunday at Goodwood PSS - fantastic looking car, and I have fallen for its charm. Though I still think the boomerang lights add to the drama.

Regards,

Ram

I just cant come to terms with anyone writing the cars name in a massive sticker down the side of the car. It just cheapens the brand. In my humble opinion ( open to abuse from the masses of course) everyone who should know its a maserati already knows and those that dont know, dont deserve to so it will never need a massive sticker pasted down the side telling people what it is. It only invites half witts to make some inane comment such as, hey, I like your musserati, I bet it goes really fast !! Reminds me of a fiat uno turbo I once saw in Leeds with Fiat Uno Turbo wrirtten down the side followed by fast as f**k written underneath it. Let the comments come !!!
