4200GT Cleaning the Inlet manifold

Just thought I'd post this incase it's of any interest . . . .

As I hadn't touched it for a year, the inlet manifold was looking at bit dusty & had a few areas where a some black dust had built up (I assume belt dust), not much, but as the goldish coloured manifold is the visual crowning glory of the 4200 unit I decided it was irritating me

Anyway, what seemed to work very well was a cloth dampened with WD40, and also spraying WD40 on as you progressed. Judging by what came off into the cloth it does seem to shift it rather than just rub it in.

Old toothbrush for the tricky areas.

Likewise for the engine bay/surround.

I can't think of a downside at the moment as no chemicals/aggressive solvents involved . . . plus no water is required as for some engine cleaners/degreasers.

Total cost £1.49
