Agree, if perfect, no work/tyres/brakes/clutch at all needed you would not expect to pay more than £20k absolute tops privately, so a full price for a dealer - and it needs a mesh grill IMHO, never did warm to the slats.

It is a facelift model, hence the price from a dealer. This is one of approx 123 in the uk, and low mileage, the rest needs looking at. Facelift models have gone up by about £2K over the last 12 months wheras gransports have dropped about £5K.

Stephen

As ever you are usually well informed. Curious though as to facelifts going up by £2k in the last year? In mid 2009 I was a buyer and private 2005 facelifts were £22-23k if really clean, reasonable miles, and no work needed. Those same private facelifts now are maybe £19-20k as best I can see (though not many examples).

Do you think private prices have gone up generally, is it only for low mileage cars or is it just the dealers?

Cheers

The trade dictate the prices, as it is what they can achieve in the current market. The facelift model, a few years ago was an unknown quantity compared with the Gransport which everyone thought was the one, however not all like the lack of leather and the added fins and the facelift being the same software setup, suspension, and rarer, a lot of prospective buyers are after them. The total UK imports of the facelift are approx 123 4200CC coupes, 52 4200GT coupes, 20 4200CC spyder (including the limited edition of about 2 or 3), and only 4 4200GT spyders. Gransports about 300. Obviously private sales are about £2K to £2500 less than trade due to the lack of warranty, convenience, finance and part exchange. However, the very low mileage examples seem to stick within the trade because they have not been USED and might have some problems. In short the model to go for unless you love the Gransport is the facelift, which is the ultimate of the 4200 on progression and hence the desireabilty and lack of availability. Nareman MD of Novula has said for ages that he can sell hoards of facelift as opposed to the prefacelift or Gransport if he can find them!  GT manuals are about £1500 less than a CC, apart from the Spyders, of which there are only 4 and if about 10K miles are making £35K. Now that these cars are now within the affordability of a wide section of non Maserati followers, the colour combination and fittings are all the more important, and consequently the 'not right combination' can be hit by about £2k, let alone the perfect history, luckily put forward by this within the Maseratiforum and other sites for what to look for and what to do before buying one of these lovely marques, without buying a gremlin and bank drain! All I want is the Granturisimo MC Stradale to get a hit on the values- Dream on Bromley!

Cheers

Just curious in passing as I am not a seller. Interesting though, as I may be a case in point as I bought the facelift as I preferred (IMHO):

- A manual
- The classic interior
- The central screen
- Having the front and rear GS style bumpers and bigger grill (mesh)
- Not having the side skirts
- The 7 spoke wheels
- Not having technical cloth

The only missing thing would be the 3200 lights.

At the time of purchase I did not realise quite how rare manual facelifts were, never mind my strongly preferred colour combination.

As ever, horses for courses. Boring world if we all liked the same thing.
