Afternoon all,

So, all being well I am due to collect my 4200 this weekend. However I now have the joy of sorting out my insurance.

I am currently with Admiral and run an old (but reliable) Mitsubishi FTO. I'll keep this as my work horse as she just keeps on going regardless.

Can anyone recommend an insurance company for multi cars?

I just asked for a single Maser quote from them whilst they work out a multi car policy and it came out about £185 per month (seems a lot to me when the car is stored in a locked garage, occasionally use, no convictions and 14 NCB on my other car).

Anyway, any advice appreciated.

Hi there,

well done on your new acquisition! I have similar kind of cars and I use admiral with their multicar policy. They mirror your benefits and NCB in both cars so I guess this is the best case scenario. However, Admiral has a rediculous interest rate at their monthly instalments scheme so that means that it is much much cheaper to pay everything up front.

best

Try Mayfair in Bedford 01234 242900.
They insured my BMW 325i and 4200 Spyder for similar premium I was previously paying for just the Masser.
Good Luck

Agree with Loz, you should be looking at circa £500, which is what I pay with Admiral via multi car. Mind you, I switched my NCB from the 156 (it is £170 with no NCB, even though a V6) to the Maser and that might make a difference.

I wouldn't rule out Money supermarket either.

Good luck

Do these policies assume active Cobra Navtrac cover in addition?

My quote originally required a Tracker but the recommissioning costs (it was fitted) and annual tariff for the Tracker amounted to several hundred pounds - I went back to Admiral and they upped the premium by £30 for no Tracker.

Unless your car is worth £40/50k, at least, I think Tracker is of dubious value.

Cheers

Been a few debates on this over the years , and indeed some snob factor attached  if you have one,  but  personally if any of my cars was stolen
i wouldn,t want them back , after they had been hacked tracked by  one of more  joy riders / car thieves , who knows what untold damage your tyres suspension engine will have been put through,  Would  you really want it back  after that

Its my firm belief that a trackers main purpose  is not for the owner ( as most wouldn,t want there car returned )  but more for the insurance companies  to recover and minimise their losses , surely the actuaries should  have already calculated  the losses/crashes etc into account when arriving at the premium total     why in hell should i have to pay £300  plus a £100 a year to help them  minimise their losses          that would be stupid surely    where's the benefit for me    another con  to make you think your getting cheaper insurance  dont be fooled

Lets look at each scenario  after a car is stolen

Tracker owner      paid £300 to initiate plus £100 a year,  less £30 off premium and gets thrashed  beaten up car back

Non Tracker owner pays £30 more premium  and gets guaranteed value payout , to go and buy another perfect example

Where's the positive angle for the owner

regards loz

If most insurers were prepared to just up the premium by only £30 then it is a no brainer as Loz has described above, however what I have found previously is that if the car did not have a tracker the insurers would not consider underwriting it.
