Chaps,

I often keep an eye on what Maserati's are going to the auction and, more often than not, there are none.  However, checking today, there are FIVE lined up for sale at BCA over the coming week or so.

Hi Woody,
Is there any mention of a reserve price ?
Christ, I'd be like a kid in a sweet shop if I went there !
Cheers

Nah, they wont tell you the reserve.

I looked for a GS at auction and found them very helpful, to the point they would tell you a top and bottom estimate of what its 'should' reach.  Generally, they're not far off.  I did ask once, after an auction if a car reached its book value to which the lady replied "it sold for less than bottom book".

I found them pretty easy to get a decent picture of history too. I think they're perhaps a bit more helpful when enquiring about a Maserati, so I think I'd consider one of these if I was in the market.

When I was looking for my QP in Feb 2010 I went to a BCA auction in Nottingham. The QP came into the arena and they announced it had an electrical fault warning light. They then commenced the bidding at what would have been my top figure and sold the car for a good retail price. They don't give any reserve and obviously there are no warranties or even a test drive! A risky procedure!!

Totally agree, an auction is for the brave and well informed.  As stated, I too have seen some cars go for close to retail which is just madness.

Hi guys, Just seen this post and just realised I bought the MX05. Has been fully serviced at Stratstone except for the last one which was done at some independent merc place in glasgow so I phoned this chap. Anyways, the car is in all okay but I think the clutch needs doing and they had been playing with car settings so a full geometry check was in order, took over two hrs to put right. Will sort the paintwork out after had the service done + clutch. Cheers
