Welcome to the forum Chris , No preaching needed for me  you. ve had both my massers since day one  , fortunately never had to claim ,  untill recent  glass problems ,  disastrous  first encounter with Autoglass ended with the car eventually being sorted out by Marranello , then just last week had a windscreen go, Matt from your office has taken control  and its now being sorted via H R Owen     Think the proof is in the pudding Chris  keep up the good work

regards lozcb

Welcome to the Forum A plan..................."known them" for years!..... working on the Ghibli renwal as we post!!

Loz....sorry to hear of the glass nightmare!

I had the Spyder windscreen replaced last year.....   insurers wanted to use Autoglass who couldn't supply it...Emblem located the only Spyder screen in the country at the time and their contact.......FirstGlass Automotive Glazing fitted it ( and did a really good job)......I had to cash flow it and claim back from my insurers.

I'm insured with A-Plan and have always found them to be very helpful and professional....happy to recommed them. I've just transferred from my old to my new 3200, and have previously had amendments for p/plate - all with no hassle. Will feed back in June as to whether renewals are competitive!

I've just had my A-Plan renewal through......premium with my current insurer increased by  approx 250% on last year  (yes, really!) and an alternative insurer suggested which was still an increase of more than 50%. No accidents, same mileage, same drivers, same location etc etc! Will need to shop around as although I heard a rumour that premiums were on the up, this is crazy stuff!

Thanks Steven. Apparently Groupama are essentially pulling out of this sector, hence 250% hike. I'm going to have a phone round, so will let you know how I get on.

A-Plan insurance never really worked for me, I had them a few years and found that every year my premium went up. Last year I found a cheaper alternative, called A-Plan told them I could get it cheaper & they then found a cheaper price themselves. This year the same thing happened but this time I went with the cheaper insurerer and ditched A-Plan. If they can't be bothered to look and find me a better deal I will happily do it myself!

Try the AA...

Just to update on this - I went back to A Plan and got them to drop their price. Still a significant increase of approx 35% from last year, but was competitive compared to other quotes I got.

Also take a look at 2gether insurance in Wisbech Cambs who I have full NCB and limited mileage 5000 per year and insuring a 3200 GT... for 380 GBP. I think this is a good deal...

'F J ' tried to hike the insurance on my 4200CC by 27%  !!   Bye Bye 'FJ'!!
Tried all the other usual sources and none were better than the best through 'comparethemarket.com' - which was the AA (see previous post fromNickP).
This was lower than that quoted from the AA direct and, using a tip from a friend, included my wife this time - apparently, this can often produce a better premium!!
Yet another nonsense from the crazy world of car insurance!
I think the daftest I have experienced over the years was one company who wanted more to insure my 95bhp Alfasud worth £3000 than a 240bhp Ferrari 308GT4 worth £14000 - for exactly the same terms too!  No names no pack drill!
