Hi All. I hope you can help me out. Im new here, so forgive me if there is a post similar. I couldnt find it so here goes. I currently have a 11 plate Range Rover Sport HSE. After endless problems, I have started legal proceedings against RR to buy back the car at full invoice price. This seems to moving along quite quickly. It has left me in the situation of I will never ever buy a RR again. (previous 3 cars have been RR). I dont need a 4X4 again as I no longer live on the farm, so Im looking at cars. Ive searched every branc BMW,AUDI,LEXUS,PORSCHE, MERC and nothing seems to fit the bill. Nothing matches the luxury feel and items Im used to having in my car. In fact Ill say that the other night I could have sat and cried i was that miffed off. Feeling that with any purchase of the above brands would be a huge step backwards in my car ownership. I dont need 4 doors as there is only my 12 yr old son and me, and my handbags arent that big. UNTIL TODAY.... I found a car that i Love. The Maserati Grand Tourismo 4.2 Extra Campionario with Avorio which is for sale at Leeds JCT600. I was wondering, could anyone out there tell me the expected running costs and basic experiences with this model. The car for sale has 10K miles on the clock. I absolutley love how it felt to sit in and looked. The colour is right up my street. I have a test drive booked in for Saturday morning. Thanks Foxy ! x

Welcome.

The car has 12k or 2 years service intervals, which will cost between £900 - £1400 dependant on service.
Expect about 19-22 mpg as an average, unless just about town where 12 mpg is more likely.
Get them to agree a service plan with the price of the car and bargain hard as there are plenty of them about
Watch out for speed bumps as the car is very low compared to a RR
The car is reliable, with no real issues to look for
Smaller wheels will give a better ride, but do not look as good.

Best of luck with your purchase.

Pete

Hope all went well on the Saturday GT Leeds test... please let us know.
It'd be great to know if there are a few other lady owner-drivers on the Forum...

As both a Maserati and Range Rover man I can say that the running costs are very similar. Both my 4.2 Maser and my RR Supercharged gave 400 bhp and on average 17 mpg - so daily costs were identical. Servicing also very similar, both being heavy and therefore tough on brakes and tyres. Both smart, civilised and comfy, and both give plenty of the "feel good" factor that is required to counteract the shocking depreciation. The Maser is less practical and harder to get in and out (low, wide heavy doors), but more exclusive, more special, faster etc. I have actually done the opposite to you, in that I have changed from the Maser to the RR, but then again, unlike yourself, I now do live on a farm. But from what you say, I think the GT would be ideal for you and your son. So give it a go. What's the worst that could happen...?
