Hi all

Have fallen slightly in love for Maserati's and have my eye on the Granturismo.

A few questions really:-

1) The 4.2 or 4.7, is it really that much of a difference? Exhaust better in 4.7 or better getting aftermarket anyway?
2) Dealer vs Private, Pros and Cons?
3) Depreciation on these going to be steep or quite "decent"?
4) Any facelifts thay i should know about? It seems the 4.7 2010 model has a different exhaust!

Thanks in advance

Regards

Lee

Oooh i can feel  it now  Turismo GT  or GTS  taking over from the 3200/4200  debate    for those of us  that arent within range of either yet     anyone would do ,

But for those that are,   obviously  the GTS is the one to go for , performance and  sound wise and they will tend to hold their prices a  lot better in the next 2 years

But for exactly  that fact the  Turismo GT    will present  extremely good value  as they  have  dropped progressivley since the arrival of the GTS ,   personally you wouldn,t gain much of an advantage  by buying  a GT from a main dealer , my feelings it would be better to buy from a good Indy like Nuvola  with  a warranty  and pay separately for an unbiased  independant inspection , A  GT can now be picked up from £47k plus  dependent  mileage, spec  etc

Easy  to understand  how  you fell in love , awesome cars   Scalgetti  looks for a third of the money         go for it

regards loz

Hum, tough one, Loz is spot on, as ever, but I personally would hang out for the 4.7 due to the fact that the GT and GTS will turn into the same as what has happened with the 4200 and GS, the better car will ultimately shine through and if you buy the GT you will always wonder if you made the right choice, where if you buy the GTS you will know you made the right choice.

According to this the GT is now the best car in its sector for residuals (including the 911/R8).

Totally agree, Bigfoot    im very surprised its done so well,  altho  its  really as it should be , just get too used to hearing  how much of a bashing  they get ,  seems the market is recognizing  what we as owners already knew    up the Trident

Havn't seen any £47k ones. Is that the price they are going through the auction houses at?

Thats the prices being quoted for part ex  or straight cash sale by  dealers bigbob

surprise yourself  Bigbob   a few strategically   placed adds  of    turismo gt wanted cash waiting       might bring you a right result     not many people got   £45K sitting about     and there are always desperate owners needing to sell

dont mean to offend Andy   , but ive known  at  least   2 turismo  gt  go for under the £50k marker      both 57 plates  highish  miles for the year   and one was quite tatty  internally obviously company cars  going through the trade

This was last year so they are out there , my mate was trying to offload his absolute minter   a year or so ago   and struggling like mad to get mid to late fifties  at 7k miles

regards loz

Any reason why i should not? Any other Spec cars, better value (Transmission, toys etc)?

Quattroporte GTS better value as an "all rounder"?

One thing my car MUST HAVE is that exhaust note only found on the "S" Massers....you know the one!

I think a 2 door car which always hold it value better than a 4 door so I'd stick with your decision.

The GT-S is the only one to go for, having driven the 4.2 there is simply no comparison, plus there is THAT exhaust. Every time I fire mine up it brings a smile to my face. There is nothing else like it on the road.

From recollection the early Autos had a different exhaust and only opened the valves at about 3 or 4000rpm and did not have the same volume as the MC Shift cars, although the '10 cars have now got exhausts similar to the MC Shift. That said, unless you really need the Auto, I would go for the MC Shift, such an amazing machine and when you are going for it the shift times are astonishing. Plus I live in London and the 'box copes well with the London traffic so no real issues there, just takes a little bit of getting used to. For me the MC Shift will always win out, but try driving both and see what you think.

As for the QP GT-S, I traded mine in for the GT-S and the two are completely different. For a 4 door exec saloon the QP is fabulous, but it is not a patch on the GT so unless you really need the 4 doors I would stick with the GT. Hope this helps.

Can't comment on which gearbox to go for as they are so different and the choice is so personal but given the prices I can't understand anyone going for a 4.2 new anymore.

I'd agree the 4.7 is the one to go for as it's got an amazing tone, the rear's look amazing like the norse thunder god himself might live in there. I had a 4.2 for several months and don't regret getting it over the 4.7, but if you can get a good 4.7 you should.

perfornace wise, the 4.2 and 4.7, there's not much in it that I noticed when driving them back to back.

as for residuals...

I've recently sold mine (trade in).... for more than I payed for it, I had it for 9 months, did 15k miles in it, and it's now on an official forecout. so I'm not sure that they will drop. my old one still has the larini boxes on it, so it sounds better then the 4.7. but I've made money on it, so they are holding their values quite well
