Hi as a few of you might know , my masser  just had a new paint job all round  looks the biz  all gleaming as it should  and would expect  , hasn.t been driven yet in the rain  and garaged at the moment ,only get to drive her the odd weekend ,  she looks so clean i really gonna make the effort to keep her that way , first for me in a long time  got a couple of other beauties  but they dont mean the same to me , so hence they only get cleaned occaisionally,  before she gets a chance to get weathered out in the elements whats the best kind of paint protection  i can apply    .......or get someone else to apply  for the best longest lasting results .  I get so little time   free time that is i would rather be driving more and polishing less ,

Regards loz

Supaguard, Diamondbrite etc are pretty good if applied correctly. You want a synthetic sealant after a polish and a glaze if you don't have time to maintain a wax finish.

I've heard good things about permaguard too.

I use zymol. The product itself can cost anything from
£50 to £7000 a kit. I think that people that use the most expensive end of the range
hire firms to come and do it for them, otherwise its like keeping a combine harvestor
on the garage to mow the back lawn.

I use the porsche one which you can get for about £100 - but it will last many years
as you don't need to use much at all.

I prefer to use a boy scout -  supply with a need for funds - and a promise of food and drink for a job well done.
Apply monthly

First off you have to let your new paint job cure properly, anywhere between 2 - 4 weeks before anything is put on it. Personally would not touch the supaguard etc as they are grossly overpriced and don't give a deep finish.

My recommendation is a good quality carnauba wax, but get the job done professionally first time around and maintainace is easy after that. Another alternative is something like Carlack that can also be topped off with a wax to deepen the finish, also Zaino is very good.

Supaguard, Autoglym LifeShine etc can be bought in kit form for £20 on eBay. They are very good as a base sealant upon which you can then apply a wax should you choose to.

Pop it in the sitting room and hug it!

Oh the heartbreak of stone chips.......In my opinion unless you apply a film product over the most exposed areas you wont get protection for long. There has to be a compromise as a driven car will never be showroom let alone concours.

Amen to that, I've got stone chips from the number plate, up the bonnet and even on the leading edge of the roof

Loz - may I ask how much the respray was? The guy who did my rusty stone chips behind the door quoted me £1400 or so, glass out etc.

Thanks guys for the info ,already had a quote for permaguard ( never heard of em b4  ) but the quote was £175.00 treated as brand new vehicle  they gaurantee for one year against all defects and extend it if you ahve the second one at half price  12 months later  guarantee yo wont have to wax just wash and wipe  sounds good tho will take a week or two to decide , i think i would rather have some else do it first time  as i said b4 i dont get a lot of time
and the weathers crap at the mo so any fine weather   i wanna be out posing    ( ark at me the 50 year old )

Oh and by the way Pac all repairs to my car fitting all new bumpers side skirts wings and  minor repair to rear wing both screens out  and all 4 wheesl refurbed  oh and loads and loads of laquer  £2100 readies    i was well pleased but i add he's and old friend of mine  but if you were interested i could always take you along    he loves the cars   his place is in worthing

Oh by the way , whist looking for paint protection  i came across an american company that do plastic film templated cut outs  to cover as many parts of your masser as you wish    ( anti chip/scratch etc  ) any one had occasion to use this  and was it easy to apply

Regards loz

Hi Lozcb,

Before I picked up my car I had the film fitted to my car but elected to have this done by a company called Venture Shield and an excelent job all round. It covers the full front bumper, 1/4 way up the bonnet & front wings plus the headlamps, wing mirrors & the top of the rear bumper. Watched them put it on not to hard a job then would say that watching on the sidelines. All sections pre laser cut, after a week or so its OK to wash, polish as normal & can be removed at a later stage if required.

Lozcb,

Cost about £550ish will confirm at the weekend when I go home (work in london all week). They did my car at dick lovett in cardiff which took about 4 hours. The only thing is it needs to be in a clean area as the car needs to be spotless prior to fitting. They are based in Ludington, Stafforshire Tel 01527 893712.
Not sure where you are based but happy to meet up if not to far away to look at the finished artical. Car lives in london all week then home to wales on a friday, but any exscuse for a drive on a weekend.
they also did a cash deal £70 quid off ish quoted price.

I had Ventureshield on my 996. It's good stuff though can deteriorate with wear which obviously saves the paint but looks a bit unsightly. It's not like you can machine polish it once applied.
