Have been using Auto Glym leather cleaner, is this the best? Is there a product that when used it smells of leather. When the car is returned after a service from the dealer it always smells of leather. Also I have a number of scuff marks on the driver seat from getting in and out any sugestions other than having it connolised? Thanks Guys

yeah, the autoglim stuff is very good. I use it 4 or 5 times a year, mainly just on the drivers seat. The best thing to use to clean it I have found, is the pre connolising fluid.

http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-108-featured-products.aspx

its the blue bottle. (by the way, this connolising kit is magic, works fantastic, but I only use it for touching in, best to leave a full seat to the experts, its only about £100 a seat to have done)

I do have some other stuff I use on special occasions, and yes, it does give the leather smell, and its way better than the Autoglym.

Gliptone GT11 Leather Conditioner 250ml its only a few quid too.

I use autoglym only on the cream leather, never  on the black, will start using gliptone all round if it  , doesn't leave whitish marks on black leather

cant remember if it does, dont think it does, I know what you mean about the whitish residue, I found if you put it on and straight off again, its ok.

Thats what i do but its like the cream doesn't have time to soak in properly, is gliptone clear or whitish creamy like most of them ,thinking of using pure clear lanolin , but i'll give gliptone ,a try

regards lozcb

Guys,

I've always been in two minds how much of the leather to put this cream on.  For example, do you apply to the dash, doors and even roof?!?

Cheers
Chris

Dash top, certainly, because the intense heat dries it out, it wrinkles, cracks, etc...

I do the seats also, but by that point, I am well sh@gged, so I dont bother with any of the other panel.

The whole point is to keep the leather subtle, so it mainly the drivers seat you want to keep well conditioned.

I did my drivers seat bolsters on the 32 on a regular occasion as they are prone to wear, and after 2 years of ownership, the bolsters were some of the best I have seen, hardly marked at all. You can tell the cars that have never been treated, is so easy to do, it seems silly not to.

I generally do the whole caboodle every 6 months  tho my black panels do very lightly and then take it straight off , wish i could find a clear one

Try the Gliptone, you wont be disappointed, and its only a fiver, so rude not to.

The Gliptone is not the powdery make up of the Autoglym, its more like runny butter.

I too have used the gliptone, I bought it direct. Could not believe the dirt that was brought out of the seats, they did look clean before they look and feel new after use!

I have used Gliptone as well and can say Im very happy with the results, thanks Conaero for the tip - it took quite a bit of time to do the whole interior but worth it in the end

Yes, its quite a job is it not. Especially after you have done the rest of the car first. I generally do the leather only then do the other stuff another day.

The best bit about it is the smell, you really notice it and it lasts about 3 months.

Yes I agree do the leather as another task I did the front then had a break in the back seats then did the rear section, I slept well that night I tell you. Im might buy the pack - cleaner, conditioner and spray. http://www.liquidleather.com/car-shop.html

and you are right about the smell just as it should be, natural not chemical.

bought the gliptone cleaner and conditioner and had a crack at the weekend....

my leather does seem immediately softened both to the touch and bizarrely to the eye... i've had my valet guy at work take care of the interior before, and the difference in the finish in the leather is tangible.... less "shine" with a more "velvet" finish. Interestingly, the dash and the doors sucked up the conditioner like you wouldn't believe with no residue (Loz - slap it on!) - very interesting when you read their bumfph about how leather = skin therefore must be treated as such... i can feel a moisturising obsession coming on....

amusingly, last night my mrs returned from her pilates class about 10pm to find me partially clothed on the driveway getting out of the car... "what are you doing darling" she said... you can imagine the look of utter dismay on her face when i told her "smelling my leather..."
