I just got an email from a concerned forum member. real nice and thanks for your offer to help Loz, not sure how though.

The problem is this: the service provider that hosts my servers will not take PayPal or Debit Cards. They will only take Credit Cards which I do not have. My wife has one however she is overseas on a 140 mile trek with her mother, unfortunately she left her credit card at hers mums home as she did not need it. I won't get her credit card details until she returns to her mums home. Funny that the annual bill comes at the wrong time, or is it she went away at the wrong time!

Yesterday the service provider agreed to extend my bill payment until the end of September, however today I got a message saying they can't do this and are now threatening to suspend my account. This means all of my websites including the Maserati Forum will go off-line. They added if they don't get paid by 8 Oct allthe data will be permanently deleted meaning the Maserati Forum could be lost for ever because it is stored on a SQL database.

I've been with them for many years, never missed a payment and this is how I am treated.

As it's a credit card thingy and I really do not want to ask anyone to give me their credit card number. We have money, its just the service provider are useless because of their very limited payment method options. A shame really as it lowers their business standard.

However I have found a Credit Card statement that shows the long number but I have to guess the expiry date. I uploaded this to my online billing profile and hopefully it is right.

If not it buys us an extra day while I find a solution....

If you need somewhere to host it I have a LOT of boxes available as I run a pretty big site myself.

Should you need any assistance let me know and I'd set you up some kind of account on a box to use

It would be better if you obtained a "backup" copy of the database regularly - in case you need to move to another host service?

Yes acronis backup is good for remote backups as you can get it to backup MSSQL and then FTP it to another site without a lot of effort.

Thanks guys, you are all very helpful. I use Acronis on my home servers and PCs.

What business do you run Damien? Sounds interesting. I myself am into IT and the WWW, currently looking for a job; however I have an interview with RBI (Reed Business Information) in Sutton on Monday. Does anyone here work for RBI?

In the past I've had problems getting backup copies of the SQL database from the ISP, they simply refused giving me a copy. Then they said something '.... maybe from US$500...' etc etc. I did not pursue this as it was not necessary at the time, knowing they do regular back ups was good enough for me.

Anyway I have some good news, I have sorted the issue out; I am going to see someone tomorrow who has a credit card and I will pay her the cash. Maybe I should get a credit card? Nah, I can't afford them.
