Guys, had a nightmare with my 05 QP today. I started the engine and is sounded sluggish and conked out. Started it again and within seconds the cabin filled with smoke so I turned it off. Popped the bonnet and after the smoke had cleared, I noticed the auxiliary belt had snapped (i think it was that). Upon calling the RAC and further investigation it appears my air con compressor has packed up, seized so it's not spinning, hence the belt is rubbing over it. Looking for help guys or anyone who knows the best and possibly a cheaper way forward to fix. From what i have read it sounds like an expensive repair or new part at that. Thanks in advance, Az

Hi Azher I have just had exactly the same problem. thought it was a snapped alternator belt which is very rare indeed, and as you say a smell of smoke. The cause being the air conditioning compressor failing (drawing smoke into the car as a result). no alternative but to replace it. just had mine done and including labour it was about 1850 pounds. condolences! scott

Hi Scott, I bought a used part off a 4200 that was being stripped for parts, still cost £660 though and car is back on the road. I kept the original compressor and will try and get that down to compressor tech to see if they can rebuild it for me. If they can the guy I bought the used part from said he would take the rebuilt one and give me my money back! Or I may just keep it, just in case!! Az
