Hi all, Getting tired of my car sat looking at me in the garage now, been months and I've not given up, but close! I was wondering if anyone with knowledge/skill and or previous experience of maserati could lend me an evening/ afternoon? As it's getting me down now. I'd love to give it to a Mazz garage, but I fear a silly bill for investigative work let alone fixing what I think is a silly problem that's so apparent, I can't see it!? It starts, runs, over fuels then dies, Replaced all coolant/air temp sensors, fuel reg, replaced cam/crank sensors, tested fuel pressures to and from tank, idle valve, recent new throttle body, new plenum gasket, tightened all hoses etc, checked fuses and still it won't run?!? Runs if pull pump fuses, so a sensor/ part is saying needs more fuel?! All help gratefully appreciated and a hug n beer if pop round haha! Ps, anyone got a Unitest TMF 5000? Appears to be the tester I need as plugs into ecu plug

This is a bad state of affairs...

Have you though about asking McGraths if you could pay for a half an hour conversation over the phone with Paul Molyneux...?

Might be the halfway-house answer as your clearly up to your elbows in what's going on but missing an elusive detail...

That's how I'd handle it; then you'll know if there's anyway out with the resources you've got. It's late July already!!

Tell me about it:( I as you say have rung mc graths several times, Been v polite and spoken to Sean & Chris asking if Paul could lend me a phone call conversation, and even Lady that answer phone calls has promised once he is free that will get him to give me a call..... Well you know the rest I'm sure.... Nothing. It's getting late in year and it's still sat there.. It's something stupid as I simply can't see what it is, and as usual I that helps all others I left in the lurch with all others doing their own thing ... I'll make a few calls and see what outcome is Regards Marc

you mabey need to e-mail them (or phone) with regard to making an "appointment" time, which you try and pay money for, for a conversation with him.

If they schedule it in, in advance and currency has been exchanged, you may find it is taken more seriously...

hopefully

have you tried Enrico's Pages...?

Thing is, I think it's more a case of it actually being there to look at as just describing doesn't seem to be enough... So I'll save some spare cash and look to take it maybe to emblem Regards Marc

Hi Marc

Playing devil's advocate here:

Your logic suggests that a sensor is demanding more fuel, but could it be that a sensor line is open circuit and not initiating a reduction in the fuel supply when it should, perhaps due to an open circuit somewhere? Should that be the case then changing the relevant sensor would make no difference.

I have no knowledge whatsoever of the electrics or fuel system on your car, but I would be inclined to thoroughly check all connections and relevant harnesses where practicable, if for no other reason than to eliminate them.

Oooo that's an interesting look at it. As I was thinking perhaps a wire had come loose or a connector aged . After all once logical has been exhausted however impractical only leaves the illogical Ooo the spock in my eh! I'll have another double check tomoro and see if have banged a lead etc, as I have not touched them before this happened? As it was fine upon Friday, n only took out battery, But it's Italian!! Thank you Marc

following on from PH comments then,

it might be worth checking the impedance if possible (multimetre on Ohms) of the sensors individually and then with the plugs disconnected from the ECU seeing if that impedance (plus a bit for wiring) is replicated at the ECU(s)

is this a two ECU car like the Ghibli, yeah...?

Tested each sensor out of car for set ohms and all fine, but, liking idea of them tested at Ecus, n yes two Ecus same setup as 228 ghibli etc Cheers buddy Now need diagram to see which is which at ecu haha! Marc
