Hi thoughts please: I intend to replace pads and discs on my 2002 4200 spyder. So suggestions costs etc for pads and discs + suppliers. Will I have any particular issues replacing them? never done it on this mark before? Thanks for any advice PeterC

I haven't had to do this yet but as a starting point I suggest reading this thread.
http://www.maseratiforum.co.uk/tm.asp?m=37996&forumid=5
Then take a look on the Eurospres site.

Klive, I have searched for brake discs/pads on this site...and couldn't see them!

Car you provide a direct link to pages with them listed?

The regular indie cost is around 900-1000, and double or so with a franchised garage!

A previous owner of of a 3200...Maranellohouse ( the fbrake setup exactly the sameor the 4200 I beleive, has a pic by pic guide to doing the same.)

http://www.maranellohouse.com/maserati.html

Plus a bit on handbrake shoes....OEM from maserati for £137..........eeeeeeekkkkkk! See his comments plus about lamda sensors...not sure if they are the same in 4200.

Thanks for the advice and the link to the thread. All I am after is the information of the suppliers - I too have been searching on the net and have a few ideas. But as this has already been well researched and documented by very "wise" owners I just need the bottom line - who sells the parts at a reasonable price?

Thanks for the advice - PeterC

Easy job to do at home - assuming you have simple tools and a little skill. The brembo setup is dead easy to work on. Replace my front disks and pads with real deal parts, which cost me about £500.

Get a quote form main dealer for parts supply first. This is the ONLY place to get the official items.
The look on eurospares site or search here for threads. Understand the Ferrari 456 GT disks do fit, but are NOT drilled.

The brakes are no issue - lets find some discs - I have found some and will post later if the are ok. Like the issue of the relay for the F1 someone makes them or the equivelant so why pay top dollar and let someone make a nice profit.

http://www.eurospares.co.uk/searchResult.asp?G=&M=&Mo=&A=&B=&S=pads&SB=3&SO=1&SM=3&SMo=24

Is a link I found on Eurospares for the Pads kit.
If the link doesn't work I searched for "Pads" and then restricted the search to the Maserati Spyder.

Not cheap I must admit.

here is the standard OEM pad - Brembo - could not justify the Pagid units which were original fit. Will resource the equivalent parts (fast road) next time.

Showing the friction material HP 1000 - might be of use to anyone looking for quality parts, bit non-OEM.

Note the chamfer cut into the pads, to help pad induce gradual contact rather than "grabbing" the disk. I filed a new one when I last cleaned out the brake calipers and disks)

We are working on both a replacement and performance rotor for a few of the Maserati Models including the 4200, more details to come in the near future. Unfortunately, we have not found any discs that are compatible, so we'll be making them.

Best Regards,
