It's a sad day when cars become chav.

I'll give you an example, i went to Auto-integrale recently and was given a lift to the station in a customer car that was being road tested.  Always a pleasure to be driven or to drive a model with the history of being 6 times WRC champion as the Lancia Delta HF integrale has.  But I should have known something was up when Keith told me before i got in...."there is no accounting for taste!"

From the back i think two baked bean cans had been stuck through the rear bumper, I looked at the front hunting for the simple effective brick like lines of the Lancia to be greeted by custom bonnet vents in the shape of "HF"
Further evidence greeted me as i got in and was surrounded by an intersting shade of red leather and at least 3 speakers in the passenger door card alone.  As my teeth were almost knocked out by the suspension - which i can only assume was devoid of springs - i got to thinking.....

It's a sad state of affairs when cars become cheap enough that anyone can buy them and turn them into something to be laughed at or worse something to pity or be ashamed of.

This is a problem that started to occur with my Corrado too.  I saw some shockers, and mostly as the car became cheap enough to buy (not to run, there is a big difference) that they fall into the wrong hands.
Bi-turbo's and even some fairly poor Ghibli's are starting to go for very little money on the likes of ebay and the danger of this starting to happen with Maserati is very real.  The only hope is that the running costs will get people running away.

But this was not the issue with this car, the owner had spent a lot of money on it and it was a quick car too, however his taste was questionable to say the least.

Having said that, nothing and i mean nothing, singles out a car has become chavtastic as much as one thing in particular.  I believe when this happens all hope is lost and the marque must be disowned unless immediate action can be taken.

Ladies and Gentlemen and am talking about the England Flag!

All Maserati owners must pray the day an England flag appears will never come, be it on one window or two, on an ariel mast or hanging from the rear view mirror!

We should all pray that the white van man's ultimate weapon of Chav terror does not strike us down - I've seen too many greats already fall to become another statistic

Good night, but don't have nightmares....

Current estimate around here is that 1 in 10 cars is chavtastic. Worst offender so far alfa 156 GTA (included stickers on rear windows as well....)

Crawley (aka Chav City) is awash with cars with flags. Also I spotted a bloke who was really too old to be a chav sporting an England shirt with a contrasting Burberry collar!

And I noticed someone who had dared to put a German flag on their car (as well as a St George) was getting a hostile reception.

One thing though: those red and white flags do serve as a useful warning to the rest of us of the presence of inexperienced / incompetent / "minds not really on the driving" / etc type of drivers!

Super chav was in Parkstone...we don't have that sort of thing in Lymington you Know....well not much, oh ok!

There is another one...... seen a couple of cars now with 2 or 3 flags fitted to sun roofs...as they bend right back in the wind i can only assume they must beat like a drum on the roof, must make the driver feel as if he /she is on the terraces!
