To save time:

From now on, Contactless TB's in stock!
Just send your old unit in and a new one comes back immediately.(Transport time is the only limiting factor now.)
Units are completely dismantled with new bearings and seals, rotor sandblasted and sealed, everything ultrasonicly cleaned and mounted with a new anodisized alu cover.
This industrial high quality refurb is done at an automotive factory in small series, NOT at a private place.
After testing, every unit is plugged on a car for final tests combined with a ecu read out on the car for throttle response feedback.
Tb's finish is like a brandnew one.

Because of boomerang's great work there is a great solution to repair a faulty 3200 gt throttle body. http://www.maseraticlub.nl/board/index.php?topic=2453.0

Because of a more complex 2 way refurb procedure now, prices had to be adjusted since January this year.

At the factory the mechanical overhaul is done/the TPS is programmed.

After receiving these overhauled en preprogrammed units, the electronic modules are mounted back, a final and very secure fine tuning of the TPS sensor takes place, a brandnew anodized aluminium cover is mounted and final tests are done at my firm.

In the end, every unit is tested on a car before shipment.

We are researching the Throttle PEDAL Potentiometer these days for converting to contactless.

Hope to be able and bring some good news about this one in the near future too!

Hi there what uis the best price for a recon Unit as i think mine is nnot working, Please read

Hi everyone I have been having problems with my 3200GTA of late

The engine light comes on intermittently for the past 6 month’s and it would go into limp mode, pull over, shut the car off & restart OK.

Then one day it started OK but no throttle (engine running but at 800rpm) call out the AA and the chap scanned and reset the faults. And got it going.

IT has done this 3 times and I have done the Mod on the throttle Potentiometer, but I would guess it throttle body (engine bay) Is there any London (Northwest) base companies or people who can repair the Throttle Body ETM Contactless !!

Names and numbers Please

All the best

Supplying TB's to independent Maserati-specialists in several countries now and a Maserati-Ferrari dealer in Germany lately, gave me the opportunity to gather lots of information via those valuable contacts.(Not only about the 3200, i learned some interesting things about the 4200/Grandsport as well )
I like to share some info with you guys, just to show that the TB really NOT allways is the cause of CEL.

Listed as one of the most common faults is the TB indeed, there is no way around that.
Next one is/are the knocksensor(s).
Then one or both lambdasensors, followed by theThrottle pedal potentiometer.
The crankpositionsensor was mentioned a few times, as well as a leaky intakemanifold due to loose screws/gaskets.
Sometimes the ignitioncoils fail, but that is not the most difficult one to diagnose.

Still, even without having the proper diagnosetools, one could learn more by looking carefully to the behaviour of the car; do we have a solid limpmode, or just a CEL with only limited performance.

In most cases i try to ask as much info as possible before one orders a new TB.
If you did not diagnose thouroughly, you could end up doing "trial and error".
Of course, when after mounting a fresh TB problems still occur, both the buyer and myself are unhappy.
For this reason, the Maserati-Ferrari specialist in Holland, wich i supply the TB's to, does NOT offer the TB as a spare anymore.
Too often something else was wrong he said, leaving the customer unhappy after buying the unit and having to leave the car there for further investigation.
This is why i allways advise to let a Maserati specialist check the engine ECU, to find out what is wrong exactly before ordering a TB.
There are two independent Maserati specialists in the UK now that mount my contactless units, so maybe this would be the best route to go, leaving no room for faillures.
If this is not possible, i allways ask people do do some measurements on the pedalpot at "no throttle" and "full throttle", ignition on/engine NOT running.
There allso is quite a lot of info regarding connectors/ the pedalpot at this forum, wich could help finding the cause of throttle problems.

As i mentioned earlier, watching closely to the behaviour of the car, one thing could help: If you have a solid limpmode, that means max 1200-1500RPM, in most cases there is something wrong in the throttle circuit indeed.(TB/pedalpot)
If you have a CEL with only a limited performance, in most cases something else is wrong.
Very common are the knocksensors or lambdasensors.
Still: only a solid diagnose via the SD2/3 tester will show what is wrong exactly.

I really hope i was somehow helpfull with this info.
Regards,
Luuk.

that's all good suggestions guys. Fault codes associated with throttlebody and /or throttlepot are stored in the throttlebody. This is why I always check both before and after the upgrade. If there are no errors stored, I always give the option of not doing the upgrade. Most of the of the ones I have done, its pretty obvious there are issues as the butterfly is very stiff. I have to say, after I have done the upgrades there has been only one case which has had throttlepot error; that was probably due to the guy opening the casing to clean it.  A lot of other errors sometimes are generated by the behaviour of the engine due to the throttlebody faults. However, this does not mean there are no other faulty parts!!
