Hi there.

Just joined the group and this is my first post so hopefully everything will be OK.

I am a long term Maserati fan and hopefully very soon I will be in a position to buy a classic V8 very soon, maybe a Khamsin or a Bora.

My question today is in a totally differnet area. As all car fans do I was musing the other day about engines, cars and Maseratis when I had a thought; will a V6 4 valve Ghibli type engine fit into my Lotus 7 type car. I had a good search on the web but could not find any dimensions, the only conclusion I could come to was that it would be a very tight fit. Is there anyone out there that could tell me the dimensions of the engine ie distance between cam covers, length from front of cam belt cover to bellhousing flange and overall depth from sump to top of plenum.

I have no intention of destroying a perfectly good 24V car but i am sure that a suitable donor could be found if the engine would fit. I imagine there would be many problems to overcome but the car was build from scratch and has never had any significant problems so I think that i should be able to solve most issues.

Thank you for your time and hopefully someone can help.

Regards

Ian

Good Q

I think the Maser 24V 289bhp Ghibli V6 will fit with minor modifications on the Lotus 7 and on a ZF gearbox, Manuel or Aut!

Older Maserparts, come typical from anywehere, and will fit elsewhere

go for the projekt, itl be a killer!

I would have thought tha even if it fits the weight of the unit will destroy the nimbleness of such a vehicle especially as a lightweight vehicle doesn't need and probably can't lay down the torque...best stick to a modern 4 cylinder high BHP unit...which surely is what Lotus has always been about?

Just my opinion
