The engine check light has never come on in my 1996 Quattroporte 2.8.  I am of the understanding that the light should come on for 3 seconds when you turn the key on and run a system check.  Does this light come on for 3 seconds in other Maserati's? The bulb is not blown so that can not be an isuse and the car runs perfectly and has a full service history.

I run a '97 Cup and I don't see the Engine-Check indicator unless I have a hot-starting problem; at which point I restart to clear it (as it annoys me).

I don't think mine lights on start-up (the car's really aren't that clever) in that respect. How do you know the lamp is good?

It says in the technical manual http://quattroporte.online.fr/qp_iv_tech_manual.htm that the engine check light should come on for 3 second as it runs a system check at start up.
My light has never come on but it sounds like a lot of people have the opposite problem.

what a resource that is- I was completely unaware of that site!!

So, you got the 2.8 v6...? That's going to be the same engine management as mine- I'll be turning mine over Thursday night and I'll find out then...
