Hi everyone,

I have just purchased my Maserati Gransport and when I slid the front passenger seat forwards to access the back seats, the front passenger seat will not slide back into place.

I am only able to move it forward and backwards with the controls about half an inch but the up/down height controls are working fine.

So most annoying part now is that no one can sit in the front passenger seat as it is too far forward.

Any help would be much appreciated.

cheers,
Garland

Hi Garland!
Try unplugging the wires under the seat and then push them back together again, this can clear out any dirt etc which may be stopping the motors from getting power through the block connectors.
Try the seat reset procedure too:
http://www.maseratiforum.co.uk/Seat_Re-Set_Procedure/m_50082/tm.htm
See if either of them help.
Regards
David

G-Man - can you slide the seat base backwards and forwards manually whilst the seat back is tilted forward ? I think this is possible (but I'm not close to my GS at the moment so can't check).

Apologies if this is a blind alley.

Rebooting the system by switching off the battery isolator normally does the trick, then doing the seat calibration procedure. Cheers Mike

Does your car have the memory seats, if so has the memory seat position been changed accidentally?

Cheers

Thanks for all the feedback. Because the seat is all the way forward its pretty hard to get to the connectors but I'll give it a go after work.

My car didn't come with the memory seat option I don't think. There aren't any other buttons other than the adjusters.

Where abouts can I find the battery isolator?

cheers!

So far I've tried the rapid re-set, disconnecting the connnectors under the seat and also switched the battery isolator on/off, all with no luck unfortunetely

Don't know if this will help but this is the reset procerdure for a 3200:

SEAT MEMORY RESET:-
1) Put seat in desired position.
2) Turn on ignition.
3) Tilt seat forward.
4) With seat still tilted forward, adjust base as far forward as it will go.
5) Tilt seat back.
Seat returns to desired driving position.

Best of luck

On the 4200/GS, you need to have the key in the ignition and turned so the dashboard lights are on before doing the reset.  Clost the doors, then open the one for the stuck seat, then as per the link posted reviously on this thread, click fwd-back twice in quick succession before tilting the seat forward.  It should power forwards then backwards twice the full length of its travel and then be ready for normal use.

HTH, good luck.

Thanks for all the feedback but all the reset procedures didn't help.
I took it to my friends place and plugged in the scantool but no fault codes came up.
Next step I guess is we're going to try and take out the seat but it a bit difficult to get to the front bolts because the seat is all the way forward.

Just a thought and apologies if it sounds stupid but could it just be a case of something trapped in the slide rails which snapped into place when you slid it forward and now wont snap back out ? Worth a try.
