I have a 1995 Ghibli with the ZF automatic gearbox. Sometimes when approaching a roundabout I hear a clonk when the gearbox shifts down.

I think the noise is coming from play in the transmission, not the gearbox.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

Any clues?

hello,

so you mean, you think it's coming from the driveshaft and diff?

that's not something I've heard of before.

What mileage have you got...?

Jim,
The car has 22,000 miles on it and is an automatic.

Hi
I think you are referring to transmission shunt and this is normally quite loud.  I presume this has been ongoing for some time.  Our auto has had it for the last 10 years e.g. ever since we have owned it, it's never got worse or better and the main dealer at the time said "they all do that sir"
Hope this helps
