Afternoon,

I have found 307 / 30 / 50 drilled brembo discs for £218, however these are stated as 94/95 year. The guy checked through his brochure and was sure they were the same part number for the later year cars, and the QP IV 2.8v.

The tarox brochure lists 1994/95 2l, 2.8l and 1997 Cups as all being the same dimensions.

I am semi confident that the Cup ones are the sizes stated above, i know the later cars had different calipers but a 307/30/50 disc should be the same............................

Maserati want £343 for - I am guessing brembo discs ??

Thanks

All ABS and post ABS cars use the same disks, quite why they have different part numbers from maserati I'm unsure.  I think the cup disk should in theory be drilled, whereas the others are not.

So that is a drilled Brembo disk then at £218 and a non drilled at £167?  Who is the supplier?
You know that eurospares list the drilled OEM item at £177, so that would seem like your best bet wouldn't it?
As for pads, the front pad is as the 3200/4200/GS, so you could take the route of canaero and get the Ferodo: this is what he has to say on the matter from this thread:
http://www.maseratiforum.co.uk/fb.asp?m=46065

quote:

ORIGINAL: conaero
Brembo OEM - Good and trusted pad, factory fit, £170 per axle!!!!!!
Ferodo - I have them to install in the next week or so, same as above, unbranded Brembo OEM pad difficult to get hold of, at £35 for fronts (FBD998), £25 for rears (FBD451) they should be your best option - Bedford Battery Company, Google them. "

The only other ones I'd be tempted by are the Ferodo DS2500 - although how different they are from the FBD998 I'm not sure -  and the FD pads.  Likely hood is that when we need to change pads next we will go with the FD pads as the car is mainly used on track.

Just to add to this, we currently have non drilled disks on the front supplied by Maserati and fade is only an issue after a few laps of the track - although we do have a lot of weight removed from the car.
When these disk die, we will put on drilled items, but before that we have the 4200 calipers to install.

Those prices were for the pair Eurospares / Meridian were individually !!

Azcarparts on ebay, they list the undrilled ones but when you ring them they can get drilled.

Really? That explains it!
But are you sure?
If you click this link;
http://www.eurospares.co.uk/searchResult.asp?S=377200321
.....the first item is an actual picture of a set of ABS disks - a pair of - and the price is £90.

Morning,

I have just rang them and the price is £140 each plus VAT. The website shows 2 in the quantity box, but it means you need 2 not that the price is for 2.

£218 for drilled seems a good deal then !

Thanks

Sure does, let me know how they turn out as if my experiment with larger discs does not work then I may go for these items you have sourced instead.

Discs turned up - drilled and grooved.

As usual a simple job turned into a monster task,  the disc retaining screws were seized. They go through the hub and the bit that sticks out rusts and expands and won't unscrew. One side I got out with an impact driver, and the other i had to drill out, but they look much better than the rusty ridged ones i took off.

They had the following numbers on them;

9909 09584610 kba6112

Did they turn out to be Brembo discs?
Also did you asked for drilled and grooved? Did you even have the option?
Thanks

Yes they had brembo stamped along the edge of the disc along with the numbers posted above.

There was the choice of drilled / undrilled but not drilled vs groved, although they look better than just drilled......

Have a look here, http://www.oscaro.com/liste.asp?ID_GENERIC_ARTICLES=10018&ID_OSC_TYPES=27131&ID_OSC_LEVELS=2731

The ghibli cup and the gt ones are same dimensions but the cup ones are drilled.

Ok an update, although a little late, better than never.
The discs refered to in this thread are the standard discs that are then sent away to be drilled.  This results in a less than idea solution as the holes are not cast.  One track day later and the discs needed a skim, I don't expect them to last much beyond the next track day, whereas even the standard discs lasted better than that.
So back to the drawing board.
Either an alternative supplier needs to be found, or (more likely) get the geniune Cup disc.  I understand this has now been superceded and it's the QP evo disc that is the replacement - although I'm not able to say what the difference between the two is.
