Woody,

Me again - got the right thread this time.
I'll be there tomorrow in the Merak. Looks like the weather is going to be good.

Re parking, they've changed things a bit; just read this on their website:
"From June onwards, a number of enhancements will be introduced to make a visit to the Goodwood Breakfast Club all the more enjoyable.  Revised vehicle parking measures will be introduced to ease traffic flow and to ensure the themed vehicles and special cars are the real start attractions.  From June visitors in ‘regular’ cars will be directed into the Public Car Park ‘D’, clearly sign posted on all key approaches to the Goodwood Motor Circuit.  Free entry to the circuit is then just a few steps away.  All other appropriate vehicles will be parked within the circuit, using the paddocks and circuit, as well as the Vitra car park."

Oh dear all my posts were on the wrong thread too.  I'm going tomorrow aiming to be there about 8.00 and aiming for the circuit car park (unless I go to the wrong event)!

It would be good to meet up, anyone got a plan?

How about by the stall that sells the bacon rolls, in the main gravelled theme area, at 9.00? I'll wear my Maserati cap, if i remember to take it.

Or by my Merak RFC 441W at 10.00? (If it gets in as a supercar! We'll have to see!)

OK, although I'll probably be off soon after that.  Hope to see you there.

Cheers

If nobody minds joing a convoy of TVRs  I'll be heading a few there, leaving Micks Burger Bar on Portsdown HIll nr Portsmouth PO6 3LS, then heading to the West Meon Hut "2 for 1" pub car park GU32 1JX A32/A272 meeting in the A272 car park, leaving there for 8:30 and going down the A272 then heading past South Harting arriving at Goodwood from the back way just before 9am. I have a PDF of an Autoroute strip map if anyones interested in that u can email me for a copy.
From my past experience they keep their eyes out for the themed cars and point us in the direction of the paddock or the flying club. If u get there rwally early 7ish they let u in the main show grounds.
Their breakfast is pretty dear and the queues will be HUGE tomorrow so I'll be trying to get to Micks at 7:40 to get something there.
Anyones more than welcome to tag along.

Nice to meet you today Roger, I caught sight of the Mighty Bora twas a great day.

With the lack of events in the Maserati world in the UK, there's a few events people might wanna come along to just for the crack, please feel free to contact me about any of them. Its my show, and a few orther Maseratis would look nice to support my lonely one amongst all them tivvers!

Sorry I didn't meet you there Woody but nice to meet you Roger and your beautiful Merak SS.  The mighty Bora '80RA' (I'm not a fan of private no. plates but always make an exception for the truely gifted ones) is always good to see again as it does the rounds.  I took one or two snaps and will have a go at uploading them but no doubt beyond my luddite capabilities.  Most amusing aspects were all the NSX's with their number plates supplied by NSX No. Plates R Us.  We were hoping that the marshalls were directing them thus "yes mate, Jap Crap that way thanks"! (I'm not a motoring snob but it would be funny).  Similarly I've nothing against fat people but the bloke who was so fat that the steering wheel of his 512BB had left a black line across his shorts housing his 'lower' belly was a picture.  One I didn't take!

Malcolm,

Yes, like yourself (if I understand correctly, and interpret your signature pic rightly) I am now indeed a lucky "2 Maser Man"! Dave reluctantly needed to sell and wanted his Merak to go to a good home. I've known the car and all that's been done to it since 1999 when Dave bought it (and when I bought my 222 4v) so it was too good an opportunity to miss, although I didn't really want another just now. (Why not I'm asking myself as I'm enjoying the Merak so much - just have to be careful not to ignore the poor old 222 4v too much).

They're such completely different cars (altho perhaps sharing some common electrical intricacies?) that they make quite a good pairing to compare and contrast. Just like having an A6 and an MC12 of course!

You're still going to see Dave around a bit as he will drive one or other when I decide to take both to an event.

Hi Roger

Fantastic!

Yup, Your eyes don't deceive I bought half the Ghibli back and now sharing it with Rich as we didn't want to see it leave the family!!

But not only do you now one of the best looking Maseratis in the Merak, one of my favourite motor cars, but also one of the best examples in that it is ex Dave!

Dave must be saddened to see it go but also pleased that not only has it gone to an affeciendo but a good mate too.

If I had the readies I would have a Merak in the collection tomorrow, but then there is the 3500, QP IV and the QP V and of course the very special 1970's Ghibli Spyder!!!!.....ah here comes nurse with my medication....mmmm that's better!

See you soon, maybe at the Festival of Speed?
