Well, I have mentioned on a number of occasions that I would like to get a few bits and bobs done to my GS to get it where I want it. Phase 1 began today ...

Phase 2 begins on Monday, hopefully it will all be in place by the end of next week and my car will be how I want it, finally

The mandate was that Pro-Speed:

1) give as much freeflow as possible
2) keep it quiet in the lower rev range, but allow all hell to break loose higher up
3) keep clearance good.

1) As you can see, it's pretty much a straight-through set up. Everything is stainless steel, and the cats are freeflowing 100cpsi sports models. So probably an extra 15bhp, and a little less weight.

2) When you rev the car at 6000rpm, it sounds like a Trofeo. I'm sure I saw a couple of bats flying out of the back boxes when I tried it for the first time. Amazingly, there is virtually no db increase around the 2000rpm mark, which is what I wanted as I do some early starts for work and I really don't want to bug the neighbours too much.

3) For those of you who are familiar with the underside of their cars, the overly restrictive 'pinch' in the pipes before the cats is to allow good ground clearance. Really, it's a design flaw I think, since it virtually closes the pipes. Prospeed have managed to keep the height similar to the pre-cats, which is a very impressive feat.

All in all, they hit the nail on the head. V pleased.

yep, will get some done once the car is back from the dealership with the other tweaks.

The sport button comes into its own with the new set-up, it's like selecting music tracks on the stereo.

Can i be cheeky and ask how much the straight through pipes cost? I need to liven my 3200 up a bit. Much too quiet

600 quid for parts, labour + VAT.

What i asked for was custom, so any other order I guess could be a little bit either side of that figure. If it weren't for the GranSport valves, I would have gone all the way and had the back boxes done too. I can't really see the GS mufflers, but I know the OEM 3200 boxes are a pile of heavy, poor quality crap. (sorry, but they really are!)

Don't know the 3200GT but as far as I can tell, the GS' front pipes and x-pipe are rather nasty, heavy, horrible air flow dynamics. The backboxes are actually ok.

Maurizio, did you ever get your car dyno'ed? I'm guessing my set-up when complete will be very similar to how your GS was, I'm curious to know how different the car will be from stock in terms of performance.

I didn't mate, I wish I had the time and I've actually asked the new owner to let me know in case he does get it dynoed.

I did change the back boxes too, which should add a smidge to the overall horsepower, though I think the biggest gain, from a driveability perspective, was the increased torque, which coupled with the faster gearchanges, really took the car to a whole new level of performance.

Pat, are you still running pre-cats as well? Or just the two high flow sports cats?

After speaking to Marios at Autoshield, he advised me to bin those and just run with the two sports cats. I need to go back and see Charlie soon. He did an amazing job last time and my car is loud even at 2k rpm - I don't care about my neighbours

Yep, still running the pre-cats. (You can see the ugly buggers at the top of the first pic in this thread.)

I'll see how I get on emissions-wise this week on the MOT, and take it from there. MOT failure is my only real concern.
