Hi all,
Am new to the forum having acquired my first Maserati this summer (54 plate Gransport Coupe).

Had an issue in the last week where the rear right tyre blew (problem very similar to a post on here in the last week of someone stuck in Farnham). To me, this happened in France making it all the more difficult to solve! It's taken the garage a few days to get replacement tyres, but they are now saying the inside rim on the wheel is really badly damaged (probably the reason for the tyre blowing) and I need a new wheel.

The car is not with a Maserati dealer in France and I am desperate now for a new wheel to get over there and bring the car back to the UK but can't find a replacement anywhere! Does anyone have any advice or (better still) a 19 inch rear wheel of a gransport for sale?!
All assistance very much appreciated!

Hi there, I had 2 rear wheels with rim damage.  It seems to be a common fault.  Initially had them repaired at a place in Scotland called "Ace Performance Cars" but they made a right mess of them and were a nightmare to deal with.  They are currently being properly repaired by a place in Ireland who seem to be much more professional called Collins Engineering Ltd (website: http://www.wefixalloywheels.com/).  The cost varies from Euro120 to Euro200 depending if you need them refurbishing as well (plus postage of £22each way).  Its not cheap but you will find secnd hand replacements hard to come by (they all seem to have cracked rims).  I will receive mine back at teh end of this wek and will let you know how I get on. Cheers
Dave

Thanks for the responses. Have managed to solve the problem after much worrying!

In the end I found a brand new wheel in a Maserati dealership in Paris. At nearly €1,200 for the wheel though, it was a bit of a hole-opening experience!

I am now looking to see if the damaged wheel can be repaired and sit in the garage as a spare. Dave, I'd be interested to hear how your's are when you get them back.

As you say, common fault, caused (apparently) by those 'island' type speed humps that are just slightly wider than the car.

Hello again,
Wow, thats expensive!  I'll let you know when I get mine returned.  I also wrote to VOSA to see if this is something that they consider to be a safety related item subject to recall (no reply yet though).
Cheers

Hi guys,  received my wheel back form Collins engineering in Ireland and they made a really good job.  The straightened the wheel, removed the poor weld (from Ace Performance Cars) and re-welded.  They also refurbished the wheel and its looking like new.  Total cost was €200 plus courier charges (arranged by me).  Would definitely recommend them.

Hi all,
Thanks for posts. Thought I'd update with what happened to me so anyone searching in future would have a solution.
Lancaster Maserati re-welded my damaged wheel for me during the car's recent service. Or at least, they got a company to reweld it. Cost was £85 plus VAT. They've done a fantastic job (from what I can see/tell).

When I was hit with this issue I rang a number of independant and main dealerships and all of them told me there was little to be done and now BBS is in administration, I was in trouble. However, Lancaster can certainly get them sorted for a decent price (admittedly, they did that whilst robbing me blind elsewhere!) Plus I also now have a spare wheel in case those island speed humps cause the problem again!
