Did any of you guys venture over my way to Harpendens Classics on the common today? Its an annual informal event, but attracts hundreds of cars..... sadly only saw one other masser amongst the masses, a nice 3200. Plenty of 355's, 360's etc etc

Hi,

I popped along.  Saw two 3200's there.  Highlight for me was the F50.  A RIGHT HAND DRIVE F50!

Its the first time I've been and I was surprised how large it was.  Some great cars there.  Other favourites were the Lotus Carlton (turly spotless!), the old AM's, a late plate AM V8....I could go on.  It was also nice to see some things that used to be commong sites - a Rover SD1, a 1979 Fiesta etc.

They were just talking about it on the radio this morning, sounds like a good event, really 4000 cars turn up?

Adam, I took two pics on my phone, both numberplates to send to family (long story).  I was on my way home from work, so didnt have my camera.

Frankly, I was surprised how big it was!  4000 cars?  I doubt it, but I do think they filled all their positions on the common.  I'll certainly go back, hopfully to add a bit of Maserati input!

Flippin 'eck, I never realised it was such a big event. Some pics and info:

On the commentary the organiser said circa 10,000 people turned up. Wow.

ps. a right hand drive F50 - that is bloomin' rare! Only one I believe, built for the Sultan of Brunei to match his custom right hand drive F40. Both of which were sold by John Collins at Talacrest (the chap who deals with Chris Evan's fleet).

I knew the RHD F50 was rare, I didnt know it was unique!

Plate was different to the pics, IIRC it was F5 OGO (natually, read as F50 GO).  I'm not sure, but suspect it might be a PHer who also has a Carrera GT.

Yeah, it turned at about 8pm....I got soaked!

There was some nice cars parked up around there too...a couple of Gallardo Spyders, a 360 Spider to name a few.

A rhd Ferrari F50 & a Carrera GT - that's just greedy  In all seriousness, that is a gentleman with impeccable taste. The F50 looks a bit bloated in pics but up close ... ooooohhhh!

I went along....luckily (in the continued effort to persuade the missus that a 3200 (or better yet a Gransport) is a good idea) there was a lovely red 3200GT there which she loved so we are all systems go....but have to wait til next year.

I went along in my racing Fulvia HF (blue with yellow nose and tail).

Some photos I took are here.
