Periodically my beautiful cambiocorsa will not start ...I have to wait up to 30 min at times for it to start. Mind you this happens when I am leaving the grocery store, mall etc... It has gotten so bad that the motor will cut off while ideling or at low rpm's (like going over a speed bump). I have taken it to numerous mechanics (dealership and independent specialist) and they have not been able to disgnose the problem. From my own research, I have come to the conclusion that this problem is related to the fuel pump relay. I purchased from the dealer only to find out I have the 4 pin Bitron and they sent me the 5 pin Tyco ;( Or at least I hope??? Any advice or help?

The part is likly the same as Fiat/Alfa.

You may have been sent the wrong one as the 2003 versions were revised.

It's generating no codes nor will it replicate at the dealers... I'm lost. Last night I left and drove a mile down the street to pick someone up. While waiting maybe 5/6 mins the car went into neutral and cut off. Wouldn't restart for 20 mins. After priming it 5/6 times it started on the next start. I hated to prime.

It has been to the dealer two times. 2 mos and 3 weeks. They can't get it to duplicate. It conked out last night after a ten min drive across town and as I came to a stop it stalled out. I'm soooo frustrated at this point. Happens hot or cold. Start or driven now.

Actually I don't know but this sounds to me like it could be a problem with the security system perhaps immobiliser kicking in?

Intermitant faults can be a pain to find. You will need to leave your vehicle with your garage until the fault occurs. There are so many possibilities in terms of where the fault could be. First the garage will check the live data on cranking when the vehicle fails to start to see if there is an engine speed signal (crank position ). Of course that is if the ecu hasn't lost power through a bad connection or a faulty relay. These type of faults don't tend to go away and theres no point throwing money at parts unless they are accurately diagnosed. A good auto Elecy should be enough, or it's straight to your dealer. All the best .

This is exactly the problem I recently had on my Volvo V70.  In that case it was the Mass Air Flow Sensor.  Replaced the sensor and problem solved.

If the Maserati has an equivalent sensor if may be worth checking.

Hope this helps.

Hello again. Ive had no experience with the cambiocorsa box or the alfa variant bu I would think the syste Would have strategies that cut the car off when a fault is present. I recently got to the bottom of a fault on a 3200 that had given the main dealers the runabout . Vehicle would randomly not start, hot or cold. I noticed when the fault occurred the heaters and the wipers would fail to operate even with the ignition on. If you have this symptom i will be able to help.
