If you ever need to gain access to the high level brake light or generally get under the rear shelf in a 4200, here's how I did it. (I went in there to remove two dead flies and to polish the dust off the rear light - sad I know but it does look a lot cleaner!!)

1. Pull down centre arm rest in the rear seat

2. Pull the leather covered panel away from the back firmly, it is held on by one clip in the top centre

3. This reveals 4 X 15mm bolts that hold the back of the rear seat in place (the bottom two bolts are just out of frame)
Undo these bolts and then simply pull the top of the back seat and it will come away:

4. Undo the four 10mm bolts (two each side) just in front of the speakers

5. Unplug the speakers and also the park assist speaker on the side of the drivers side speaker (if fitted):

6. In the boot, pop out the four plastic clips holding the top of the boot liner in place and pull down the liner to reveal three screws with large washers. One in the centre and one each side which line up with the high level brake unit:

7. Back in the car and gently pull the rear shelf towards you, not too far as you need to disconnect the brake light wires. You will see the white block connector in the middle. Becareful not to pull the sound proofing away with the self either!

8. If you want to get into the high level brake light unit to change a bulb, turn the rear shelf over and unscrew the 5 screws to release the unit:

Refitting is just a reversal of the above, as they say in all the best repair books!

Easy! Hope this helps you if you are thinking of venturing in there.
