Left my car outside overnight while away at a hotel and in the mroning it was covered in bird sh1t! I removed offending nastiness to discover my beloved paintwork is ruined, I now have 5 areas where the laquer (clearcoat) is melted. i have spoken to a freind who does custom paint spraying for a living and he reckons it may be possible to polish out the worst of it but the only way to sort it out properly is to respray. I was wondering if it was worth getting one of these stonechip guys out to look at it and was wondering if anyone here had expienced similar, how much it might cost and anyone they could recommend in the Berkshire area?

Now where did I put my shotgun?

I put the car in the garage a while ago and just before doing so I flicked off a couple of small dollops of bird sh*t but without wiping the paint.

When I got the car out a week later there was a mark on the paint and I was pretty p*ssed off, especially for my own stupidy in not wiping it then.

However, joy of joys, this weekend I notice the marks have gone. No idea how or why but whether washing the car has drawn the issue out or what I don't know.

All I am voluntering is I definitely had a bird poo mark, that was IN not on the paint, and it vanished without any treatment. Suggest you wash/polish the car a few times and wait a few weeks before any final solution.

Sorry nothing scientific above but a possible ray of hope.

I had the same. Huge pile of the stuff in the middle of the bonnet. I didn't notice it for a couple of days as it was dark. It had dried on hard when I took it off and there was a visible distortion left underneath. I posted a message on here and got various ideas to try out including claying. I didn't succeed, so I left it feeling down heartened.
Following week it had gone. No idea why but it did!

I hope I'm as lucky as you guys! I will leave it a few weeks, wash it, polish it, wax it etc and see how it goes...
