Hi there all,
Just had my insurance renewal come in for my 3200 GT  £636.00 pretty much the same as last year. Decided to renew online, when doing so noticed in the shedule I was down for 10000 miles per annum, which is what I asked for last year being a new owner I thought I would rack up the miles. But only did 3.5k , changed the shedule to 5k per annum and the premium dropped to £487.00, so check your shedule if your not doing the miles dont pay for them.

John,

Who are you insured with, as your premium sounds fantastically low.

Really cheap quotes. I am on a limited mileage policy social use only 4000 miles a year. In my name wife named driver. £900 with £600 excess. We are both 32, no accidents, no claims and max no claims bonus.

That was on an insured value of £34,999.

I couldnt get it any less and I know where to look as I used to work for an insurance broker !

Did you try A-plan? No affiliation, but got lower quote than you for unlimited miles, including commuting. Do you park on street? Maybe you are just in an expensive postcode.

You guys think its bad at £900 well try being 23 with only 1 years no claims and 7 points on a 2000 3200.

Hope you are sitting down................ £5500.

Ouch!!!!

I went through all the specialist insurers this year on my 3200 and not one of them came close to elephant.co.uk - fully comp, protected, no restrictions, just over £500 for myself and my wife. They were also best for my Range Rover, knocking £250 off of previous premiums. Check them online, but I'd also recommend confused.com to run a check through loads of insurers online.

If you aren't doing many miles (5000 max) and the car is over 5 years old, get a 'Future Classic' policy with somelike ClassicLine. £490, not bad at all I thought.

Oh, and colonel... £5500???? Jeez!

I was quoted £7000 for my TuscanS when I was 25 or so, from Admiral or Churchill, one of the majors; I eventually got it for £900. It'a all about persistance and finding the right specialist.

We live in a very low risk postcode area. The car is kept on a drive. I did try Aplan they came back with around £1200 at the time I seem to remember.

It must be age and the type of car. I have seen alot of scrap 4200s that have been in very bad car accidents...

To put it in perspective same sort of policy on our w12 which is in the same insurance group but is a much more powerful car (450bhp vs 380 on the Masser) it only costs around £600 to insure....

See what happens next year at renewal...

Just finalised my insurance cover for the Gransport through Maserati Insurance Services at £375 fully comp with £500 xs, 9000 miles pa and european cover

This is run by Marsh and I had my Porsche through them as well and always had good service.

Bottom line is that I get a rebate of £55 as they have just taken it as a change from the Porsche to the Maserati.

The next cheapest was A Plan at £378 after a bit of haggling closley followed by Adrian Flux at £398. Did have some quotes of over a £1000 but that was from companies who do not have a clue, "Maserati, Whats that?"

So now a happy bunny and just have to be patient until next week to allow them to sort the car out

It must be down to age as some of these quotes are seriously low.....No offence but these are the sort of prices my dad pays for his insurance on his Merc !

It cant be the postcode we live in, its a very low crime area. Our house insurance is very cheap by comparison...

£375 on a Gransport thats not a could risk, not a good risk at all regardless of age, experience, mileage....We dont use the car for commuting, we both have full no claims and no accidents or convictions.

We also have loads of experience driving performance cars (Another key factor)

Incidentally my insurance is with Adrian Flux....I am assuming you guys are protecting your no claims, that always adds a fair bit...

Will definately give it a go at renewal. Like I said its double the premium on the w12 a more expensive and much more powerful car so somethings not right.
