Just had this mod completed by my regular installers Motor Media in the UK. As usual, an incredibly professional job with a seamless install. My criteria for all mods in my car are that they can easily be reversed at little cost, should a future owner wish to do so.

The mod required a fixing plate to be attached to the front bumper, behind the lower side grille mesh (the grille mesh is not strong enough to hold the lights mountings). These conventional projector fog lights were then converted to hold an LED light. I initially tried replacing the halogen lights with LED fog-light conversion bulbs but they were not very bright. I think the curved oval shape, nicely matches the curvier pre-2009 model.

The end result looks as below. I think the crisp white LEDs on the front now nicely complement the LED tail light conversions at the back!
The photos were taken during my grand tour from London to Lake Como, Italy

Hi, thanks for this post. The car looks great. Please could I ask you where you sourced the rear LED lights and wiring?

Thanks a lot

Hi Peter, I sourced the lights from forum member Noor though that was a one off. You could try your luck on eBay but they are pretty rare second hand. Otherwise, you can buy them through Eurospares or any Maserati dealer at around £840 I believe. I bought the wiring harness from a MaseratiLife.com member called n2euro who is based in the US. However the harness threw error codes on the dash. I think you would be better off contacting my installers based in Acton, London. They figured out how to get the right resistor loads so that no error codes are thrown and if a light does go out, it will legitimately show on the dash. Tell them Shakeel referred you - contact details are: http://www.themotormediacompany.co.uk/contact.htm

Hi Keith,

Thanks very much for your kind comments. The most difficult part of this is actually cutting the right shape hole in the lower grilles (the light unit is oval and the grille face is itself curved). In addition a fixing plate is attached behind the grille to hold the bracket for the light unit.

If you are interested, I could get my installers to talk to an installer in Hong Kong.

I am actually in Hong Kong on business at the moment, but when I get back to London, will post pictures with the lights on.

Thanks or the offer, mowlas! I will definitely seek your advice again when I am ready to take up the challenge! I love the rear lights so much but I think it will take some time to look for a pair of used one! Anyway, I will wait patiently! Have fun in hong kong, mate!

I can still get hold of some LED rear light, if anyone is interested, much cheaper than going to Maserati directly.
