I have been thinking for a while about a 'Spring Summer Get Together' in middle England, possibly in the Lakes,

Initial thoughts are for a two night stay in one of the big country house hotels with a couple of tours thrown in.

Best to avoid the bank holidays as its full of sodding tourists. I know the area quite well having lived there in the past.

Let me know if there is interest and I will look into costs etc.

Just checked one of my old locals Queens Head Hotel Troutbeck, £65 PP, per night BB. Only have 15 rooms so will have to be quick if we get a big bunch like in Le Touquet last year.

if you are doing the lakes, the drunken duck is a good option, owner is a bit of a petrol head and loves maseratis, I traded a ride in my car for a table for dinner when they had no room at the inn. they also have a private car park, nice food and best of all for you drinkers, a micro brewery...

Count me in! That's if I can complete this seasons series of 'Dancing On Ice'.
Loz, you can't imagine how many times I've nearly provided you with your next project.
Cheers

You take care Andy , but if you must , i prefer a slight rear end hit rather than a hard frontal ,  but try not to bend those tubi's    thanks for trying

regards loz

Loz, I'd heard that it's been a long time since you had a hard frontal.

OK the duck won't change their strange policy of 3 rooms max for groups....so Queens Head in Troutbeck Village it is.

http://www.queensheadhotel.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Two dates Fri 21- Sun 23 May 2 nights from £55 per person per night B&B
Or the following weekend Fri 28 - Mon 31 [has to be three due to B'Hols] from £60, but of it will be very busy on the roads, and in all the pubs etc.

They have plenty of rooms left so give me a steer guys...for me the first day is better but I can take leave at any time.

Price rise at the end of this month so if we book soon we will keep the 2008 prices as advertised.

Not a show stopper but would definitely prefer it not to be a Bank Holiday.

I'd agree, avoid bank holiday's in that area of the country, it's a ramblers delight up there!
