Hi i have bought 1 year ago this left hand drive 2.24 biturbo and the Cambelt had jumped and broke valves etc,
I have now had all work done and only used the car for about 300 klms and just started car up and the engine now sounds like a diesel,i thought it was just low on Engine oil added half a litre of engine oil but the noise is still there.

With the Engine running i took if Drivers side spark plug leads off and didnt make any diffence.
Passenger side right hand side does make a diffence,then done a compression test and is good,Changed around Coils still the same, Found the distributor inside was lifting welded up still the same very loud lifter noises,

Checked Cambelt Marks and seems to be in the same place,Took off camcover driver side and cant see anything out of place or broken;

Need help dont know where to look next?

Thanks

Hi Mark!

Welcome along!

I think the next thing to do would be to establish you have spark at all on that bank...

You need to get a spare spark plug and hold it in a pair of pliars and contact the metal lower part off the engine somewhere to see. Failing this (and avoiding a major mechanical issue) I think we've got to be looking at fueling to that bank...

What kind of condition is the distributor in? Sorry I don't understand what you've put; "was lifting welded up still the same very loud lifter noises"...

Can you post an engine shot to assist?
