Hi All,

As you may have noticed we have been making changes to the site, and some of those have included adding more categories to the 'Member Profile' section. These extra categories allow a member to input their current Maserati, past Maseratis etc, as well as a generic location, occupation etc. You do not have to fill these out but as many members have suggested elsewhere it would be 'nice' to do so .

A few points if I may...

1. To make the above easier, I have amended the 'My details' dropdowns on the navigation bar to make completing/editing one's 'My Profile' page a little easier. It is pretty self explanatory really, but just in case  -

- 'View My Profile': This displays the 'Member Profile' page that others members will see when they click on your displayed username, next to a post of yours, for example.

- 'Edit My Profile': This 'My Profile' page allows you to edit the data displayed on your Member Profile display page (above), as well as choose your personal settings for the site. This is where you can add your display avatar (image under username in threads) and signature (tag line at the end of your posts) too.

2. Could members kindly fill out the 'car' categories in the 'My Profile' page, as it is nice to know which Maseratis or cars are being driven, or have been driven, by the person we are chatting to. It's all good fun, and even if you drive a Lada, we're not fussed, get it listed

3. Filling out your location is useful for when other members need to offer advice regarding nearby meets, local members, service providers etc.

4. Uploading an avatar is now easier than ever, so no excuses chaps. We have incorporated software into the site that re-sizes and compresses the image for you - just upload a good clear image and the software will do the rest. So no more blank avatars, or 2mm x 2mm reduced images please.

5. To keep the post display pages flowing nicely could I kindly request that members keep their signatures within one or two lines. In almost every case where they overun, this will be acheived by listing your 'previous/other cars' within your Member Profile page, and not in the Signature. And just list your current steed.

Example -

Michael
Drive it like you stole it
4200 CC
Audi A6
Ghibli ABS
430 Saloon
Alfa Giulietta 1.6
Morris Minor

Changes to:

Michael, 4200 CC, Drive it like you stole it

(with all other cars to be listed on the Member Profile page). So long as we could keep the signatures to within a couple lines that would be great.

While we absolutely wish to know which cars you have owned previously, by listing them on the post signature the post pages become excessively longwinded to follow, hence we have added the extra profile listings area. I'll look into getting the 'car' categories expanded to allow more data entry space for the prolific car owners amongst us.

Any issues, queries, or the like just send me a pm as always. Now get editing those profiles people...

Kind Regards,

Brian

Thankyou for you response to my suggestion of members showing region, and its benefits, and this posting. I do have one problem, in as much that current signature and stable will not fit on one line, am I out of line keeping my current as is?

Hi Stephen,

Good question. It's a two sided coin really:

- I would propose ditching the last 3 lines of the signature as those details are listed on your profile page in the correct categories. The 1st two lines of your signature are great as they let fellow members know immediately your name and the Maserati you drive (and naturally have experience of).

- However, your avatar is quite vertically tall, so by listing those extra lines in the signature they don't add to the length of the posting pane and page at the moment on a short post, but they do on longer posts. Longterm, I think we need to look at the overall height limit of the avatars as it may be set a little on the high side.

In the meantime though, if you could keep it to within a couple of lines though that would be greatly appreciated

Kind Regards,

Brian
