Hi Birdcage,
Is there any chance of encouraging members to display thier "Region". This will help enormously when replying to posts to help on directing members  and guests, with problems, requests, etc. etc, to local support in the form of dealers, indies, local members, meetings, etc. etc. I also notice some adverse response from some members that the availability to see the number of members/guests on line was not available in the new format. I clearly understand from the marketing aspect your decision, and endorse it. However this information is clearly visible to any member who enters Details/"My Forums" and views it on the right hand side.
Many thanks for your considerable efforts to provide and upkeep an amazingly good and informative site, which I hope that, I have not only benefitted from the existing postings, but can help others with mine. Great job, thankyou so much. Please feel free to PM me on this matter.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your feedback and kind words. The forum is going through a transition phase at the moment on many levels, but with active members like yourself onboard (as well as many excellent members past and present who have provided invaluable contributions) the long term future looks bright .

You have mail.

Regards,

Brian

To paraphrase in terms of the current political climate, "I agree with Stephen"
It would be very useful if members displayed their location for the very reasons stated. However, I appreciate that not everyone wants to display their exact location, I use "Shrewsbury" as my location but I'm actually some miles away from there in a place no one would ever have heard of, but it gets across the general point.
Keep up the good work Brian, it's very much appreciated.
-David-

Just a minor point Stephen, you don't show your own location and your profile is private!

Thankyou for pointing that out, it was visible, but I must have clicked something by mistake whilst trying to make sure that I could log in with cookie. Will rectify immediately. Thanks.

David,
That would be great, just goes to show that the suggestion is to mutual benefit! Please PM me with phone number so we can make arrangements. Looking forward to seeing that new front grille! I wonder whether all members know what you have to do to show "Region" in Avitar? I understand that Birdcge is addressing this fact soon, so I won't elaborate.

I would like to bump this issue, as all too many new, and indeed some existing are not doing so, or indeed showing what their chariot is (i.e. 3200GT, or GTA, 4200CC, or GT, Spyder 4200 CC ,or GT, GS, GT, QP, etc. including year) under signature, which does make a constructive reply, which might be urgent, difficult to reply to without further postings to find location or model. Prime example from one of our trusted long standing members responding to some spare parts available to which he responded 'I will remove myself', which would have costed about £800 in airfares to get there! Please also refer to admin's posting on this subject:

Yes ,I completely agree with Stephen ,also why alot of members dont disclose their names, i dont understand why this is , is it for security or safety ??.
At the few meets that i have attended so far , this subject always seems to arise
be interested in your comments.

I agree and why not have our photos on our profile?  As this would help putting faces/names together when we meet - even a picture with your pride and joy available to members only then it would all tie up.  Unless some of use wish to keep our ID secret!!!!! which is not a problem?

Good point Peter, perhaps admin could address this point, with a 2 entry with pic of car or choice avitar and headshot in avitar, albeit i think a lot will fight shy of a mugshot!

We are all getting older no matter what we do and have.  Perhaps a "younger" "youthful" picture if you like but I am sure the car will outshine you - perhaps that is the worry having 2 women in your lives!!!!!!!!!!

Chaps,

For those who wish to have an alternative profile photo to that of their avatar -

- If you select the 'Edit My Profile' tab via the 'My Details' dropdown link on the navigation bar, you will be taken to a page which enables you to add/edit your avatar picture, and profile photo.

- To clarify, your avatar does not need to be the same picture as your profile photo.

- So, if you select and utilise the 'Set up profile photo' you can upload a picture of your good selves (to be displayed on your profile page only), while leaving your forum display avatar as a picture of your car.

- To execute the above, you will have to untick the 'Use your avatar as Profile Photo' if that has been ticked.

Have a play, as it's quite self straight forward to follow.

Regards,

Admin
