Hi

Just ordered a new GranCabrioSport and supplier is offering a special detailing service prior to collection ,that is a 2 day job where they preapre car with a fine paint cut and then go for a full autoglyme treatment witha 10 year guarantee.  In the past on other less expensive carsIi have always decinded these paint treatments. as anyone any experience of these on new massers or any views on their effectiveness.

Thanks

steve

Just had my 2005 spyder detailed at KDS in Kent . Amazing results will post pics shortly. They had a brand new Focus RS in at the same time and it is amazing the difference in look after detailing. If aound £500-700 mark would def say good idea.

Personally speaking, if I was to have a car detailed, I'd get someone like Kelly at KDS to do it - someone with a great reputation.

I think I'd probably also do it after having had the car a while, even if its just a few weeks.

In terms of paint protection, I'd be interested to know more about the treatment.  A 10 year gurantee is quite something!

Hi Steve,

Autoglym do not make any products that would last 12 months let alone 10 years. There are no products on the market that will last that long. if someone is offering such a guarantee then they have zero knowledge of paint detailing and protection.

As has been suggested, get a specialist detailer to do the work as you can be sure that their standards will be far higher than a dealer. Keltec have a fantastic reputation and will give you far better value for money and a realistic expectation of how long the finsih will last before needing to be redone.

The few coating type treatments that are available on the market such as C Quartz, Glare etc, need to be applied by specialists and do not do much in the way of enhancing paint, only protecting it, so the finish has to be flawless. A car leaving the factory, any factory, is never flawless. 95% of the look you seen on show cars is in the preparation and refinement of the paint, not the product that is put on top.
Regards,

Neil

Greypaul Supaguarded my car before delivery....5 year guarantee.

Washed it a couple of times and bonnett looked smudgie so had to reapply some of the stuff in the Kit.Looked fine after but i thought it would've worn better,

So verdict thus far..not so sure....

Car is black...and I used this on our Alfa..."Black Box" with great results.....may use it on the Mazza yet!

I would rather get someone to apply C1 by Gtechniq, this stuff is just brilliant.
