Hi guys,

I have felt for a while now that the Foum could do with an aesthetic makeover to make it more useable, in keeping with the classy nature of our members and their cars :) so I have had a web designer spruce up the look of things. The updated look will go live at some point next week. As always, consider this a work in progress, and if there are any major objections please let me know, either via this thread or pm. If something is stifling your use/enjoyment of the forum please do tell me.

Secondly, this update as well as the recent server/security update, like with most things of quality has not come cheap. Neither will continued planned updates to keep the Forum in tiptop shape. Unlike the multi-talented Gavin I am not a professional web/computer person so I have to use profesional third parties to maintain the Forum. I have been offered site donations by members but always feel slightly uncomfortable with this level of generosity, although many many thanks to all those, like Loz, who have offered financial donations. As such, I have taken the decision for the sake of the forum's survival to allow 'technical partners/sponsors' to display banners. Sponsors will only be those who a) offer a helpful/beneficial service to our members and b) are prepared to give something back to our community where possible.

For peace of mind, I can assure you that the Forum will not be 'pimped out' by every available piece of white space being given over to all and sundry and neither will generic Google banner ads be displayed. If approached by an interested party there will be dialogue to assess that they can offer a service or product that benefits our members, otherwise thank you no.

I hope these updates will meet with your approval, and firmly believe they will help spread the reach of this helpful and friendly Forum to all Maserati owners.

Kind Regards,

Brian

Believe it or not , and those that no me well , know i dont usually like to  admit that im wrong , but  rare occasion  i  was and have been, regarding the updating of the forum, slowly ( and i mean slowly)i  have adapted to the new layout  without too many mishaps and bits outa place ,   just the old fart in me not wanting change i suppose, but hey now we can relax.   Brian (Birdcage ) has all our best interests of the marque at heart , you have my blessing not that you particuarly need it do what it takes to keep the forum alive and  progressing  forward and if that needs a donation / membership fee then so be it  you have my full backing

regards loz

Wow...this is posh!

Birdcage, the changes took first rate, and the new Maserati images give it a real pro look...thought I had linked to Maserati's own site.

Thanks again

This look is much more aligned with the marque and there is certainly a lot more traffic these days. Keep up the good work.

Although I only saw the "old" look for a few days, this new set up looks very stylish .

Well done Brian!

Yup love the new look, very smooth......................mind you, I'm a bit emotional about the photo of the 5 "founding" Masers disappearing....but then I am an old fart and I still have a half share in one of the cars!

Can't blame you for looking for a commercial edge to defray the forum costs Brian.........Maybe future track days and other social meets and events etc could have a small surcharge as a contribution to the costs....Presumably there wouldn't be any liability issues as everyone is essentially on a disclaimer at the track anyway? Suppose the problem there would be a minority making a contribution for the majority to enjoy but then if the Forum wasn't here then we couldn't organise the events......conundrum!

Keep up the good work!

Thought I'd mistakenly logged on to a official Maserati site for a second there, I like the upgrade, very stylish.

I agree with  the suggestion of some of the big hitters here, there should be an easy way for us to make contributions, I'm paying for things on the interwebs that provide much less enjoyment than this excellent forum.

Gavin started something special and Birdcage is making sure it stays that way.

Hmm I like the look but I'm not sure the images are quite right when I view it:

At a guess I'd say you need to adjust your display screen resolution properties on your monitor so it can fit everything width wise on the page.

Go to your desktop - Right click then properties/settings and then slide the resolution slider as far to the right as you can. Apply.

Hope it helps and don't mean to patronise if you've already done this!

Dave

Dave, you are quite right to assume I have limited IT skills, thankfully I can report (having now checked!) that the resolution is maxed to the right!

Any other tips?

Paco

Tips, eh?

Don't eat yellow snow

No seriously - has this fixed the problem? I'm not a PC expert by any means mind you!

Cheers

Dave

Hi

What size screen are you running?

I will get our tech guy to look at it.

After a while of being away, and problems with a new laptop not being able to login to the site, nice to be back and see the new look!

Thanks Birdcage, looks very professional

Brian

It will be the screen size as my mini-laptop gets the same layout as pacoryan as it has a maximum 1024 x 600 set up so has to compress the width by dropping a pic down as well as a couple of the main menu items.

My desktop shows the page properly as it goes to 1280 x 960 or something similar.

Anyway, thanks for the redesign it looks great.

Dave
