Well folks, after 5 months of trying I have now located my perfect car, been to view it, done the research, made an offer and had it accepted. Going to pick it up in 2-weeks when the owner returns from holiday and very excited. This post is just to thank all parties to date in particular Peter / Saffrane etc for all the helpful info and using all the knowledge given I think I have made a good choice ( time will clearly tell). Taking my young son to pick it up in the south and drive it back up north to Burnley where I am based. After reading many points on this forum about reliability, it seems many people take offence to the negaive view imposed on reliability by members. I disagree and would work on the basis of expect the worst repairs / break down wise and if it turns out not to be too bad on the wallet you are on a winner. Many thanks to all and I will update pictures and details after I pick it up. kind regards, Mark Rothwell

Best of luck Mark...thats the second time in as many months I been thanked for helping choose a car...On a second point, I'm from Accrington although been down south since 1994.

Hope you have a blast over the Old Grain Road on the way back unless it's covered in cameras now!

Thanks Peter. Not many accy lads running masers so you are definately one in a million there. Old grain rd is still good for a blast and have done many times on the motorbike. I am actually from Barley in pendle which as you probably know is the small village directly under pendle hill. Will keep all advised of the purchase. kind regards, Mark

Yes sorry everyone for not clarifying. I managed to find myself a 2000 model 3200 in blue nettuno with cream interior. It has approx 40K miles on the clock, its a 1 owner car from new with a full  maserati main dealer service history. The only mods / extras it has had is stainless back boxes. It is near perfect condition with only 1 scratch on the rear quarter panel that will be easy to paint. It needs the alloys repainting but had that priced at 200.00 for the set. Bills with car from new total over 30K and serviced on both mileage and time which is a pleasent surprise. Hopefully, it will give me a relatively inexpensive journey throughout my ownership. Picking her up in 2 weeks when the owner returns from abroad. Heres hoping. On a seperate topic I have just perused ebay and found a sad story of an owner selling a black 3200 with a blocked oil pipe which has blown his engine and he is having to sell for spares or repair as the bill to repair the engine will be catastrophic. Cest la vie !!!!

The history on your 3200 sounds very good, and only 1 owner, wow!
Sadly, the next two weeks are forecast to go very, very slowly for you and it will feel more like a month, ut it will be well worth the wait.
Do let us all know when you are on the road. Look forward to seing you around sometime.

On the Black 3200, I wonder if a 4200 engine would fit, as I noticed someone selling a compete 4200 engine and gearbox a while back!
