Just coming back from a trip in Scotland where I was able to "thrash" the Maser on empty single carriage A roads and B-roads like the A93 in cairngorms with wonderful straight line, nice turns, hairpins and absolutely no one... Was able to push up to some pretty high triple digit speed in some straight ( - not advocating that speed limits are for the other but hey, one can have a bit of fun from time to time... - I have to admit that the brakes were quite smelly afterwards...)
As unfortunately I am not going to Scotland everyday and not to racetrack either, is there any decent B-roads around London where, traffic allowing, one can hae a bit of fun for a blast...? Happy to have suggestions here... Thanks

Im in Kingston, either the roads are full of speed humps, pot holes, cameras or if there's a nice stretch the traffic police are armed with their scanners.

Hi Ronnie,
thanks for hte warm welcome. Was based in St-Andrews so essentially in Fife but went all around the place. Caingorms road A93 to Glenlivet is a must. I think tha all the Speyside area is quite nice... Also liked the A702 from Edinburgh to join the M74, if there is no one you can have quite a decent run (rahter than taking the M8...). Went to Loch Lomond also but way too much traffic...
I was not able to go to the Isle of Skye but I heard roads over there are amazing both in terms of landscape and driveability...
It is wonderful to be based there as you have all these magnificent countryside at just a stone throw whereas in London.. It's another story... Any suggestion for some nice roads in Scotland as you seem to be based there?
Thanks

Agree... Although quite some decent run around the thames valley like when leaving the M4 and heading to Henley on Thames... for example.. (with your radar laser/detector on and probably not on a satruday at 2 pm... )

We have some great roads all over the north and north west of Scotland. Shetland also has some fabulous stretches of road because all their "main" routes were upgraded in the mid-seventies as part of the deal with the major oil companies who wanted to set-up their oil refineries there. Due to the very low volume of traffic up there the roads are in superb condition with some epic long fast sweeping sections. If the opportunity ever presents itself to go to Shetland, go for it.
Cheers
Ronnie
