At last we have reached that day. Heres a few shots of the car. All painted, and ready to go. Hope you like the end result.

What a lovely machine Andy, all credit to you for the time and diligence it took. (And presumably a few £'s but we won't mention that...)

Well done Andy, what a great piece of work, congratulations. The prototype was, in my view, one of the most well balanced front engined GP car designs of all time.

I am not aware of the background to this project - would you kindly fill in a few details? Did you use a road car derivative of the 250F strait six?

Kind regards,

Richard

Mechanically, the car is BMW. Sorry if that upsets the purists. However it is at least in keeping, being a 2.5litre six running on triple webers. The gearbox is the getrag close ratio with "dog leg" first, like the original. As for the rest of it, mostly made by myself. The chassis I started 14 months ago, and going from drawings, building it as close as possible to original bearing in mind it was always intended to be a road car. Fortunately, because of contacts through my business, I have had access to several "original" cars as well as a couple of Cameron Millars to compare dimensions, shape etc. The bodywork I cant claim the credit for. Wish I could. That was made by a relative of a good friend of mine, who had spent 26 years at aerospace perfecting the art (and it is) of forming Aluminium. The end result is better than I had hoped for. The car weighs 680KGs, and the balance is exactly 50:50 front and rear. I dare say there will be a few tweeks on the suspension to get the overall setup right, but as there is no data to work from on that one, its a try and see. I hope this answers a few of your questions. Feel free to ask about anything else. Thanks for the interest.

The suspension is my own design and made by myself. Double wishbones front and rear, with adjustable dampers, and fully rose jointed. I will post an engine shot later.

What a great project, well done.

Out of interest, is the blue seat what would have been in an original?

I saw a couple of cars, may have been Cameron Millar re-creations that had blue seats. I thought the contrast looked good so went with it.

A picture of the man who made the body, still in aluminium, who now wishes to remain anonymous.

Stunning - well done.

How about an old tatty brown leather seat covering?
