I normally don't comment on people 'for sale' adverts, as it's up to individuals to price, but it does appear that you've only joined the forum to sell number plates and are not an active forum member. No harm in that, but I thought you'd got the price wrong by at least an order of magnitude...that's a hell of a lot of money for a 'not quite' plate with a tenuous link to the marque!

Thank you for your comments. It is the best rendering of the word 'prongs' available and has been used in press releases and online promotional material by Maserati themselves. The only other plate that refers to the emblem (TR10 ENT) is being sold for £33k; mine is priced to compete with this.

Ha.  No, its not, but I have as close as you can get :)

None of them are for sale (I'm like some kind of plate hoarder!) but one I bought with a long, long term goal in mind is for what was called the F151 during its development - the new Ferrari FF.

I have FF51 FER.

I expect I'll try and sell it at some point as the prospect of getting an FF really isnt looking good right now.

Actually, as an afterthought.....what do you see that as being worth?

The problem in realising a high value with that particular registration is that there are many similar ones still available from the DVLA (range £255-405), e.g. FF61 FER £405. I appreciate that you have '51' which is closer to the factory code 151 so that may make it 'worth' around £2k perhaps to the right buyer who sees and likes the connection but no more (this is just my opinion though as precise valuations are almost impossible to achieve!) ... Clearly you'd be looking at considerably more if it were possible to have 'FF151 FER' on the plate! p.s. completely off topic, but what do you think of the concept of being able to hire a registration for a set period e.g. one year? I'm entertaining the idea and have recently bought regrentals as a domain name! I think with a tight agreement in place there would be demand for this. As a number plate enthusiast, what do you think Woody?

I've mentioned that on forums previously and think its potentially a great idea.

However, I think its massively dependant on the plate.  I think councils should do it, they seem to have some great plates (i.e. G0 (yep, Gee-Zero), NH 1 etc), and think that someone would pay good money to have that on their car.

If my initials were NH, would I pay a couple of grand to have that on my car for a couple of years?  Yeah, probably.

Trouble is, I think the market would be small.  Car companies or PLCs might be interested, but I think it would be a small market with a lot of technicalities.

Re FF51 FER, yeah, I agree, there are others.  I dont know how you'd value it but I'd rather see it on my own FF.  Just need to work out how to pay for one!

I was thinking of setting up an auction model for the rentals ... It would have to come with some pretty watertight legal paperwork though so may not be viable. Are the FFs available for purchase now or next year?

Yes, agreed.  You'd need to know your onions I expect.  Though the plate being on a car doesnt mean you own it, nor does the logbook of a car mean you own the car.

Odd.

FF's are avaialable now.  A couple of customers have cars already and some dealers are starting to get their demo's.  I think I have a god few years of retention to pay but I think they're awesome, a really nice looking 4 seater.  And what a sound!

Absolutely, they look fabulous. I've not heard one though but sure they sound terrific! What do you make of Maserati's entrance into the 4x4 arena with the Kubang? Does it float your boat?

This was a PHer who tested one in Switzerland a while back....sounds great IMO!

Kubang will no doubt sell by the boatload, but its not for me.  Would  like to see one upclose but I like Maserati of old, selling maybe thousands of cars not tens of thousands.
