Haven't looked for a while but couldn't believe that the cheapest QP is now 28k in the classifieds, with currently 4 under 30k. Even Merdien have one at 31k..know that is alot of car for the money...who said the credit crunch didn't have some plus...

Are they really that cheap? The one at 28k has 76k miles, poor colour and poor wheels. Add in an inspection and warranty (£2300), plus service (900 or 1500) and possibly new clutch or brake pads(1500) the these cars aren't that cheap. When I was looking for my car the majority of sub 40k cars had strange colour combos, the 18inch wheels and sometimes lots of miles. To be honest I'd only buy one of these cars from an official dealer with a Trident warranty. I'm not sure how one of these corner plot independants would go about preparing a car and solving problems later.

Yep would agree with most of what you have said, but a dealer car under 30k is not far off. The Merdien one has the 18" wheels and not sure of the blue dash but still with warrenty and a bit of a haggle you could get that car closer to 30k.

Very few cars under 40k on the official Maserati site. One point, when a dealer has had a car in stock for 6 months or so they quite often drop the price by a large chunk to clear it from stock. I know of a Porsche dealer that actually sends cars to auction if they hang around too long.

Nice cars around right now. There is an 06 plate QP for under 40k with 14000 miles at Greypauls. Alot of money but alot of car! Hope the Granturismo drops that much in a few years!!

Well guys, that 32k QP didn't hang around for long, nor the 06 circleace mentioned either. Only 2 cars at 37k , after that the next car is a shade under 45k. Looks like the market for these cars is strong. In comparison, I was looking at CLS500's at main dealers 2 months ago, cheapest 05 car was 26k, today the cheapest is 21k (thats a 5k loss in 2 months). The most satisfying part was when I bid on a 06 CLS500, in the end the dealer put the phone down on me! However :-) that car is still on the MB car locator two months on for £500 less than what I offered that day(stupid rude man). Every cloud has a silver lining, the next day I ran over to JCT600 and found my QP.

You peeps clearly aren't checking Autotrader... There are at least half a dozen QPs under £30k, including two at ADG.  Ok so none are tiny mileage but I wouldn't expect an equivalent figure Merc to be any less driven?

Personally I reckon the dark blue looks quite nice

Just thought I would start this one up again as QP are now really starting to move down. Two of the cars below at well respected ADG...26K for a car with under 30k on the clock.

There are another 4 under 30k and one at a Maserati dealer (ok it's the yellow one). Some nice cars for sale at the moment.

Craig, is that you with the grey one over on Pistonheads. If so it looks a cracker. Make sure you post some pics up on here when you get it...you're right it needs the bigger wheels though.

Dear all
Am considering my first Maserati purchase, inspired by this thread

It's not advertised publicly, but it's a 2005 QP with 12k miles for 27k. Its from a guy in the city. Navy Blue, tan leather, Duo Select. FMSH. I'm a bit hesitant to take the plunge, as it's an unknown quantity to me. Does anyone know what sort of running costs to expect per year? Is the Duo select really rubbish? Is 15MPG realistic? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My trip clock (which I never bother to reset) shows about 16.8 mpg. If you intend to get that car, get an inspection first as it may need a new clutch if its done a lot of city driving even with only 12k on the clock.
