As mentioned in the other thread I just picked up a QP yesterday from a main dealer. However I can't get the CD changer to be identified or the telephone to work. The car had had its battery disconnected so yesterday it requested the code for the nav system. I've got a keycode for the CD changer but can't find a menu screen where I can enter it :-( .

With the telephone, I've inserted a SIM card as shown in the manual into the socket, pressed the TEL button, however a message says "Telephone not available". Under normal conditions it says TEL OFF in the lower righthand side of the screen. Picked up the handset but its dead and won't switch on.

Any ideas/help would be welcome!

Is the sim card slot standard on the 4200 or an extra? In my car, the slot is there so is it just a case of getting the simcard holder and slotting it in or is it a Factory fitted item?? Does that make sense guys??

Hi, on the QP with telephone prep there is a slot that the SIM card goes into on its own. It seems that I just can't switch the handset on, the phone in the armrest won't power up so not sure whats happening. Beginning to wonder if the battery disconnect messed up the set up of the phone.

The slot is standard - doesn't mean it's connected up to anything unfortunately.

When I bought my 4200 it had one of these wired up. Took me a fair bit of trawling the internet to suss out that it's a Sony Ericsson HCB-30 and to locate a downloadable user manual, but once I did it works fine with my Nokia so I assume anything Bluetooth would also work. Does all the audio cut-off etc. Only thing is the volume is reset to 0 every time you reconnect so you have to turn it up for the first call (retains it after that). I soon got used to that though.

I've got a feeling it's been superseded, but you might be able to find an online retailer with one still in stock, or pick one up on FleaBay. Don't know what the current model is I'm afraid.

In fact, here's one Google turned up straightaway.

Thoroughly recommended.

Hi Simon,

I've never heard of a code for the CD changer, in fact, I install mine and remove it for an ipod occasionally, it's never prompted me for a code? in saying that, neither has the Sat Nav.

I don't have the phone installed in mine, but your problems seem strange, if the handset in installed in the centre armrest then it's generally got the phone installed, mine says 'telephone not avail' since I don't have it installed.

best bet,get it back to the dealer to have a quick check, I'm sure they won't mind.

ps, where did you get it from, as I saw a lovely Red QP being prepped in JCT recently.

good luck

Hi, if you saw it last week that was my car being prepped, I picked her up on Friday. The car had the battery disconnected at some point and I think this has caused the problem. On Friday the Nav system requested the unlock code, but it says CD changer unavailable and when I'm playing a CD in the main drive the changer shows up but is not selectable. I have a separate key card for the CD changer, just don't know how you enter it. With the phone, it says TEL OFF in lower right corner of the nav screen however when I insert a SIM card and press the TEL button, a message comes up TELEPHONE NOT AVAILABLE. I'll call them tomorrow.

I've spoken with them this morning and the cars booked in. How do you remove your CD changer? Just wondering if it hasn't been pushed/locked back in place properly and there is no connection.

hi there,

the CD changer is hard wired in with a connector block, if it's disconnectecd then the option to use the CD changer is greyed out.

you will need to let mek now about this unlock code thing, as I've never heard of it!

good luck, JCT will look after you, I get my cars sorted by them.

thanks, thats how it appears "greyed out" on the central screen. I spoke with a tech today and he said it doesn't need a code if its connected to the nav system(it will use the code of the nav). I'm now wondering if its simply disconnected. How do you remove/replace yours?

thanks

Simon

The phone and SAT NAV are "grayed out" on my system, but this is because they are not fitted as standard. If yours was advertised as having them I would be back to the dealer pronto as to retrofit SAT NAV alone is £500-£600 to have the NID up-graded.

Hi, everything is physically there, its just not talking to each other. On the QP the CD changer is under the steering wheel.

Just an update, the car was at the dealers on Saturday, seems there is a communication problem between the Infocenter, CD changer and phone. The car needs to go back, have the infocentre taken out, connnections checked then new software uploaded.

The handset has a nasty habit of "dying".  There is a resistor in the circuitry that burns out, due to being under spec.

Try 7075 for the keycode.  You should be prompted when pushing the left hand Infocentre control (the one with the Set Up press button at the bottom).
