There is a recall in the USA on the QP and GT  for a rear suspension problem: see report in Wall Street Journal at http://on.wsj.com/nf9Jir

I contacted the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) who co-ordinate all UK recalls (www.vosa.gov.uk/ ) and received this reply today:
"Thank you for your email. I can confirm that we are aware of this issue in the United States and we are at present discussing the issue with Maserati in Italy to confirm if there are any affected product in the UK. The recall in the US does not commence until September 2011. Once we have this confirmation, if affected product is within the UK, then a safety recall will be actioned by Maserati. regards Alison Martin Automotive Safety Recalls Manager Vehicle Safety Branch".

I'll post any further news I hear.   Norman

Been told by Maserati GB that the recall details for UK have been finalised and notification letters to those affected should be going out next week. Maserati GB seem to be willing to check details of your car if you give them a call.

I've heard that news too. My cousin have same model of this car so they were given a notice too. The recall was declared Thursday in a press release by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. An investigation detect most of the rear lights of the model was its reason after receiving an inordinate amount of service warranty claims. A lamp assembly defect was discovered that could cause the tail and brake lights to fail that could cause decreased vehicle visibility and possibly contribute to a collision. The defect was incurred during the manufacturing of the tail light assembly, Maserati North America, Inc., said.

Recall notices are issued to the registered keeper of the vehicle using DVLA data.

There are a very small number of vehicles concerned; the numbers seem to fall in 2008 production:

Gran Turismo and Quattroporte recall.

Reference: R/2011/115.
Manufacturer Ref: 196.
Launch date: 05/09/2011.
Numbers involved: 131.

Recall details: Loss of vehicle control. The rear tie-rods may not conform to the correct manufacturing specification. Therefore, depending on its usage and the road conditions, it is possible that the tie-rod may become damaged and may fail, which will result in the loss of control of the vehicle.

Remedial action: Recall the affected vehicles and replace the tie-rods.
