Well the FTSE was down 5% at one point today and Wall st is off 25% from the peak.

Is bad news like this affecting you yet? And are you thinking less of spalshing out on a new motor in the coming year?

I for one am happy with my current stable and think it might be better to conserve my cash for investments when times get bad.

Apparently today is the most depressing day of the year the scientists say . That might account for the 5% drop.

Still I won't be buying until the ftse is at 3500 in Dec :)

No sign of a recession for me....not making much on the property portfolio side but its ticking over nicely.

Consultancy side on the other hand is booming.  So much so Ive just bought a Range Rover Supercharged Vogue SE for the misses!

It's f***ing painful for those of us in financial services... Job security hasn't been an issue for the last 5 years, that could change any second.

For what its worth seems an ideal time to diversify and get into liquidations and repossessions , anyone know a couple of 6 foot ten eighteen stone  muscle men , gonna be another 1990 i reckon with bankruptsies at an all time high , gotta be someone to pick up the pieces, dont think i could front it myself ive gotta consience and thats no good with that business, but records show its a booming business,

sorry for the doom and gloom but i felt it for a long time  and feel its well overdue, got the same feeling as 1989 bubble about to burst.

Regards loz

I am a bit of a pessimist when it comes to money but I have to agree Loz. The end of the longest bull run since 1929. After that one the US markets fell 70%.

I am not adopting Ostrich syndrome. I am battoning down the hatches.

6ft 10 and 18st?  Well, not quite.  I' 6ft 4" and a shade over 17st.....and, as the name suggest, I'm the LITTLE Bro

BIG Bro is 6ft 8 and mid 20's-stone...but we're both soft as ****e and dont like confrontations

Agree though, would imagine its going to be a booming business soon.

Been comming for a couple of years this. The economy is in much worse state than most people understand (or are willing to admit)

You got big falls in the markets, property overvalued, credit crunch + inflationary pressure.

Its not going to be pretty thats for sure.......

This was raised months back and a few people said stop being negative and stuck their heads deeper in the sand !

Still going to put a big chunk in my pension I want some of my corporation tax back.....Incidentally on the markets I dont think we are at the bottom no where near it, ftse got at least another 10% to go I reckon

Thanks a few people on here have said they like it. Seriously good value on the second hand market. That ones pretty special I have been told it was originally the MD of Audi UKs car hence the spec. Its almost as fast as the masser in a straight line anyway, 450bhp 6.0l w12 aluminium space frame 0 - 60 in 5.2 seconds. Unlimited would be heading towards 200mph. Amazing for a car weighing 2 tons.

I disagree on the 10% more to go, on P/E alone most FTSE 100 stocks are good value now, but it will be a rather volatile few months/year!

Main point of replying was to congratulate you on understanding why pensions work well!!  Pretty good time to make the contribution imho

I've just been reviewing our core portfolios again, not bragging but it shows how an effective asset allocation strategy works, this "crash" has hardly made a dent on them.  Doesn't stop the phone ringing with anxious investors though
