Hi everyone, my 3200GT insurance is up for renewal.

I'm currently using Adrian Flux, fully comp, 5 years ncd, no points, no claims, 38yo for £514, this year they want £1100 !
When I called to query this, the conversation I had with them was a million miles removed from the one I had last year.  Last year they sounded knowledgable and really interested in finding a good deal - they even managed to knock 20% off because I had documentary evidence of many years experience of driving powerfull RWD cars.  This year all I got was "well its expensive because our computer says your car doesnt have an immobilizer or an alarm" she had a very hard time understanding that the alarm was factory fitted, the reply was "well it doesn't count if you haven't fitted your own tachcam device" ho hum...

I tried A-Plan, but unfortunately, they never responded to my query, I can only assume that they are not interested.

It seems incredible that last year the car was insured through a "specialist" who really seemed to understand this market but this year my best quote is from a mas market provider (Churchill £688)

Any other suggestions?

Rhys

Fwiw, just insured my 3200 with Churchill, paid 770, but not as many years no claim as you. Scoured about fifty companies before my friend with a 911 told me about them. Adrian flux quoted me over 2k, sign of the times I guess.

Funny Adrian Flux was the cheapest for me. Full everything on a 4200 06 was £613. Heritage who I was with last year wanted £1200. Both with Aviva too! It seems new customer, better price.

Try Competition Car Insurance - I have my 4200 and Lotus Elise with them and they have always been competitive and offered excellent service over the phone.

The cheapest bit of Maserati ownership is buying the car.

I opted for Footman James underwritten by RSA for a policy covering a limited mileage of 4500 , garaged, including breakdown insurance, £100 excess. Total price  £475.00

I find it very strange that Adrian Flux could not get a similar price for my renewal (which was also RSA)

The only slight issue is that I can't apply NCD to this policy which means my 6 years NCD is going to waste.  As I understand it the NCD is valid for 3 years, which makes me feel slightly better about that.
